Here's a song for you

Post by DonM »

I thought I'd share a song recorded on the job using the PA4X and factory style.
Trying to capture the feel of the way Willie Nelson does Whiskey River.
Nothing special, just something besides technical issues and complaints. :)

Very Nice Don....Love the use of the harmonizer; very tasteful.

I don't recall the name of the style and my kb is at the place I work. I have it saved in Songbook and I will look at it when I go to work.
The vocal harmony is simply one voice, a third above mine. I think I took the standard duo and edited it a little. I turned the reverb way down on the harmony voice. I saved it a LONG time ago, and again, I'll have to look at it when I get in front of the keyboard to see what I did to it. I use this as my default setting and rarely use anything else.
TIP: I leave the vocal harmony ON at all times. I assign the Harmony volume to a foot pedal. I set the volume limits in the menu to all the way up and all the way down. Then when I hold the pedal down the harmony sounds at 100 percent and when I release my foot it is at zero volume. It is instant and seamless. You have to use a momentary pedal. I use Boss FS-5U. You can still adjust the harmony level using the dedicated knob in order to balance it with the lead vocal.
I just prefer doing this to using an on/off switch. I don't have to remember if it's on or off, and don't have to look for the indicator light (which is always lit now.)
I do appreciate the nice comments. Thank you!

I almost forgot to look at the style. It is Country Rock, factory style.

Hey Don, great job mate. You got an excellent pedal steel guitar sound with reverb going there and very nice vocal harmonizing without going overboard. Outstanding.

In all my years on the forum and listening to Don's songs, I've never seen him divulge what styles he uses for his songs. The keyboard is usually not available and he'll get back to you. Don is very protective of his material. But still does a great job. I too play the 4 and before that the 3, then the 2 and the 1. So bring on the 5 for this 80 year old player. Great forum.
