volca drum - update error

Hi folks,
I tried to update the firmware of my drum from 1.08 to 1.14, but without success. After reading a lot of posts and trying all the tipps, I'm still in the same situation:
a/ when I go for a low volume, the drum seems to not recognize anything
b/ when increasing the volume I get "Dcd Error" (Decode?)

Here's what I tried:
1/ devices: dell notebook, tascam recorder, mobile phone
2/ looked for any "sound enhancement" options and disabled it (where available)
3/ used different cables
4/ same behavior with update to 1.11
5/ did a factory reset on the drum
(drum is connected to a power suppliy - no other cables conneced, but power supply and sync in)

Anyone successfully updated to 1.14?

strange thing: I tried with my old Thinkpad and it just worked at the first attempt.

Looks like the Dell, Oneplus and tascam have the same issue.
