Piano sounds hammers release noise effect

Post by Wilky »

Hello I have only just noticed this but when playing a solo piano sound the noise of the hammers is heard as part of the voice which is more noticeable when you release the key fast.
I want to know is this part of the sample or is it an effect that can be tuned off.
Try it with headphones with full volume and press one key using the main grand piano sound the release your finger from the key as fast as you can and that is the noise effect I want to either turn off or reduce the volume of it.
This has only come to my notice when today I used a weighted midi controller to play the piano voices and the key / hammer release noise seems to be a higher volume that spoils the sound.
I have tried turning off the master effects but I have never really gone into the sound editing and was wondering if anyone could help.
Thanks Peter

Piano sounds hammers release noise effect

In Sound Edit Mode go Go to the Basic > OSC page. From the right-upper corner select Solo and right side select the OCS number. Play and listen which one is that hammer noise. Then reduce level of that multisample or delete that OSC. Maybe PA4X users can show which one is the number of that OSC.

Thank you for your professional response ,I have now managed to edit the voices.
The hammer return noise was in oscillators 17 and 18 in the German Grand piano voice.
I found the default settings ok when not using a midi controller but when I play the PA4X using my Yamaha DGT2A Piano as a controller that uses optical sensors the hammer noise for certain piano voices seemed to be loud when using headphones.
I have now edited certain piano voices for when I use my piano as a controller.
Some piano voices are fine as there is a difference of the number of oscillators they use from 8 to 24 for the German and Italian Grands
Thanks again for your assistance

You are right.
With a Midi controler go to Global-->Midi-->> Midi In Control and select Fixed Note Off Velocity.
