Noob. Reaper and Korg Wavestation VSTi. Patch will not stay

I just got the Korg Wavestation (Yesterday) which I'm using with Reaper DAW. I downloaded a .mid song with multiple tracks. I assigned assorted instruments -- most from the Korg. However, I find on some tracks, the patch choice does not stick. e.g. I select "Steel Drum" Card 6, patch 22. If I stop playback, and go again from the beginning, the patch resets to Card 6 Patch 0. This happens no matter which patches I choose Card, Rom, etc. It resets to the current 0. I'm assuming there is some sort of "enter" I'm unaware of to set the sound for the track?

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: For anyone who has this same problem and comes across this post in a search. It turns out there was a MIDI event, "PC= Program change", at the start of the track. Deleting that event from within the DAW's MIDI editor fixed it.
