Similarities in ROM samples with Krome EX?

Hello does anyone know if there is an overlap or similarities in the basic samples/sounds between the WS and the Krome EX?

Looking back, the M1 and original Wavestation were very different.

But in todays world, what is it between the two (original wavestation samples aside)?

If anyone has experience with both please let me know?
