Gadget 2 (iPad) + MPC 1000: Transport start issue?

Hi all, I'm putting together a small hardware + iPad setup and am trying to sync Gadget with my other hardware, specifically my MPC 1000. I've gotten everything talking to each other, with the MPC acting as the master clock, except for one issue:

When I press Play on the MPC transport, that message isn't picked up by Gadget. However, Gadget IS receiving all other MIDI data - notes, as well as the Stop function on the transport of the MPC. Basically, I'm trying to have Gadget sync up with the MPC, and the Play function is obviously a pretty important part of that equation.

For reference, my signal chain goes like this:

MPC 1000 (MIDI out) > Digitakt (MIDI thru) > Nectar MIDIFlex 4 MIDI USB host/splitter

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
