Korg Pa3x (Oriental) Format

Post by fResH_ »

Hello,

This question is for the users of the Korg Pa3x Oriental OS 1.6.

In my case I got the first generation of this Oriental without subscale on the left panel.

I want to format this to normal OS, not oriental.
Have you done this? Please share experience if that works and is the steps the same as normal pa3x formatting?

This is not possible unfortunately.
The package selector is programmed to be LEB (ort) from the factory and so only the oriental os will work.
I never had one here to do any further/deeper tests to see if there is some way to bypass that but even if there was , it is illegal so i wouldn't be able to post it in public.

Thanks for your answer.

Long time ago (5-6 years ago) I did this once. Want to refresh the memory.
I THINK i just loaded the standard OS from korgs homepage and installed and it overloads the oriental. And it convert to the normal pa3x. I will then lose the Oriental package, styles, sounds and samples.

What did you think is illegal? I didnt catch that.

If it just loads the standard pkg then there is nothing illegal on that..
The illegal part i m talking about would be a hardware modification to convert it if that is even possible (never had one so i don't really know if it is possible).
I m sure that you can't do that with the pa4x oriental and MG models...
I would be interested in the oriental OS you have in yours to check if it can be loaded in the standard one if you can load the standard one on yours!

I know that it wont work on a regular. Have already explored that many years ago. :D
The same as pa3x Musikat (german) version can not be loaded to a regular pa3x

That is what i mean!
Musikant can't load standard OS!
If your oriental can load standard OS then the standard should be able to load this specific oriental OS.
You pa3x does have the oriental printed on the casing right?

Nothing printed on the right side of the physical panel. This was their first gen of Oriental from Music Gear Lebanon.

Only in the OS, upload screen. (See picture)

Then it is possible that it is just a standard model with a different OS.
Try loading the standard os pkg if you wish .
It will not hurt the keyboard. It will just fail to install if it isn't compatible...
