Various Octave shift anomalies

Post by LosAngeles »

Hi everyone. I have some questions regarding shifting octaves and am curious if anyone can explain why the following seem to work the way they do:

1) When assigning keyboard zones with the physical keys, only notes C3-B5 are allowed, despite attempting to change octaves with the buttons/Utility screen octave change parameter, performance setup page octave change parameter, layer setup octave change parameter, and every other octave change or transposition parameter. The MIDI implementation chart claims the Wavestate can support transmitting MIDI notes 0-127, but this doesn’t seem to reconcile with the fact that the physical keys’ notes don’t change upon octave shifts. Why is this?

2) Suppose a keyboard zone is set for the only layer of a performance from C3-B3. Transposing via the program setup and layer setup pages provides shifts in the pitch of sounds (pressed/played after the adjustment) via the same physical keys originally pressed, but changing octaves in the performance setup page or via pressing the octave buttons does not result in any sounds being produced from the same physical keys being pressed. How can these be explained?

3) Lastly, using the same key zone from 2), latch the arpeggiator and play a chord. When the octave is changed via the layer setup page, the sound cuts off immediately. Doing the same and changing the octave using the octave buttons or performance/ program setup pages does not at once mute the play (although the same physical keys that originally played the chord can no longer be used to trigger notes for the arpeggiator). Why is this?

Thanks, so much, in advance!
