Pa700 Touchscreen not responding

Post by Albertano »

Hello. My Pa700 is presenting an unpredictable behavior when touching sensitive screen, sometimes the full screen does not work and later it get fully insensible. All of the physical buttons work fine and their functions are shown in the screen but the screen is not accepting instructions. I have already, first recalibrated the screen and, second, updated the OS 1.5 and the problem remains.

Can anybody help me?

Regards

It may sound strange but when it does that try attaching a cable in the inputs and touch its ground with one hand while touching the screen with the other.
If while you hold it it works then it is most probably a grounding issue.

Thank you.
Your proposal really didn't work out. I connected a guitar cable to Audio In Left and touching the ground part of the cable with one hand and the screen with the other there was no screen reaction. Additionally, the problem has been getting worse and now the screen is practically unresponsive. Any additional suggestions?

So that is not the same issue i had encountered!
Ok next (more logical) steps, clean the display with a damp soft cloth (can use cotton if you wish) with the keyboard turned off and let it dry completely before turning on the keyboard again.
I guess you have removed the protective plastic it came with from factory , right?

Pa700 Touchscreen not responding

Thank you Musiccankill.

Even though the screen appeared to be clean, I wiped it with the damp cotton with the keyboard turned off. After 30 minutes I turned on the keyboard and was able to play freely without glitches or screen instability. I have been observing my PA700 for about 10 hours and the automatic shutdown process has been carried out correctly, which was no longer happening, and the screen responds perfectly to all the commands. It seems that the problem has disappeared. I will continue to observe because I clean the screen continuously and, indeed, several months ago I removed the protective plastic with which it comes from the factory.

Thank you very much for your support and I will continue to inform you about the operation of my PA700.

Glad it is working better now!
I have seen that dirt on the gap between the screen and the bezel can indeed do that even on mobile phone screens that behave strangely so a good clean on any capacitive screen that is not behaving correctly is the first thing i most of the times do!
Report back if the problem appears again!!

Pa700 Touchscreen not responding

So very sorry.

The problem is back again. Even cleaning the screen, now the screen is not responding. Only restarting the PA700 the screen works again but only during a short while, then the problem comes again.

Do you believe that reseting to factory defaults the problem could disappear?

Otherwise, should I order a screen replacement with a qualyfied center?

Best regards

Too bad it came back :/
Well factory restore shouldn't fix it but it doesn't hurt to try so give it a go.
It could be a bad solder joint on the display board ot the digitizer itself.
I wouldn't try to open it if i didn't know what i doing.
So i suggest you to go to your nearest service center and let them diagnose it.
If it is under warranty , they should fix it for free else.
Please let us know what was it, when it ll have been resolved..
