Confused how to handle drum patterns
Hi Kronos users, it's been a while, I hope you're all doing good.
I have purchased several drum banks over time that comes with preset patterns.
My preset patterns slots are maxed out, I sort of mismanaged this section from the start.
I'm just not sure how to go about cleaning the whole thing. How do I erase all thoses patterns and start fresh?
Any advise on how to manage preset patterns in general would be highly appreciated.
Cheers!

Hi Den, am not sure if PCG tool can also handle to sort drum patterns. Have a look in the forum, or Google with PCG tool.

Ok, have you gotten to try any of the other tools that float around, like TidyKronos or even the editor software from Korg?
Sorry that no-one else has an idea.

All right. So if you truly want to wipe clear all of your user drum track patterns, this is how you do it. Note: I would recommend backing up your Kronos as a PCG first or, alternatively, only backing up the drum track patterns using Disk Mode as a precaution.
So, to clear all of your user patterns, you can do this in Program, Combi or SEQ modes.
Let's pick Program mode. Choose any program. Next, navigate to the Drum Track tab on the P1: Basic/Vector screen.
Then, touch the small arrow at the top right of the screen and select "Erase User Pattern." In the dialog box that pops up, check the small box that says "All Drum Track Patterns" and press OK.
And that will clear all of the user drum track patterns from your Kronos.

Re: Confused how to handle drum patterns
This statement led me to believe you were speaking about user drum patterns, since as voip said, the factory preset patterns cannot be changed, added to, or deleted. If you got any new drum patterns with those purchases, they would have been added to your user pattern bank. This of course excludes KARMA GE patterns, which are stored separately.Dniss wrote:I have purchased several drum banks over time that comes with preset patterns.
There are 1000 blank user drum pattern slots available, by the way. Also, I tend to find that many people use the word "preset" very loosely, to define anything that has been stored in memory, e.g. "User Presets" or "Custom Presets." That in itself can get confusing....

Here's a possible solution I haven't personally tried:
(Warning: please make a Save All backup before proceeding).
Do another Save All backup.
But this time uncheck "Drum Track Patterns".
Maybe you've already tried this and it didn't work.
There is of course one sure fire method:
Do a factory re-install (not necessarily the OS re-install).
I recently did due to freezing issues.
You will need to then re-select your PCGs.
Perhaps you could then choose the non-"Drum Track Pattern" PCG...
