Re: King of arrangers 2023
If I remember correctly, Tiho makes his own styles and possibly samples his own stuff. From that perspective, the Event is indeed a good choice. If you want to just sit down and play, Yamaha is the machine for you. Korg is in the middle.

Hi, just watched the clip. Thing that interested me the most was the ability to change the .kst extension to .mid sothat the midi part of a style was editable.
Ok, I got someone to send me a .kst file changed it to .mid. That worked. Loaded file into my daw, it has markers similar to Korg, it had some midi tracks , but any that were audio I think were just left out, not 100% sure as I had no way of playing the style. Anyway the guy said after editing , just change extension back to .kst. Not sure that actually works.
Love to be proven wrong, because if they ever bring out a module version of this keyboard, I would love to try and get one.
One can do the same with a Yamaha style , change .sty extension ( or any of the other numerous extensions they have) but , once you change it to .mid you lose the casm data, you can’t just change it back to .sty and expect it to work.
Anybody with a Ketron ever tried changing the extension.

Hi Guys
well, I got an answer to my query.
https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index ... #msg497223
Sounds pretty impressive. Won’t be selling my PA5x, but when the module version of this becomes available at some stage, and there’s a reliable source to purchase from , here in Aust. I hope to add it to my setup

I wonder, if we create a sound, how many layer/osc s can we have.
Also in korg what I undarstand and what I’m doining, export the style as midi, re-edit and re import to PA4X and it’s working.
So that’s not a new thing.
Just if you are skilled you undarstand the anatomy of style making.
For many years back Casio had a keyboard, that one just replicated any style from any keyboard.
It sounded ores ok.
But today everyone has their sound location and mapping.
It’s not like GM/GS anymore.
So it’s hard to find right sound right fx right eq etc.
Ketron event sound amazingly good out of the box.
What I’m curious about is how is deep synth engine editing?
How is user sound creation .
How good is OS
And how will they fix eventually problems or ads.
In so many years, they made good sounding keyboards, but they promises too much and after that they are just gone, and new kb comes out.
So I hope they will make event better, and really good competition unit against other brands such as Korg.
For the moment I have no trust in Korg’s future of keyboard marketing.
In my eyes they lost their trust and credibility.
What they offer for 5grand is what my cellphone does 100 times faster better and easier.
And for
Me, 4x is still the unit that we can trust on stage.
I do not undarstand why Korg is behind the market now.
And I don’t think the kb will be so
Much more than what it is.
Yes style creator will be addressed, yes maybe a better os but I do not think they will ad new technology on it.
I don’t wanna play dubled styles, if the style is made pro quality than it’s ok, no
Need for second player.
What we miss is newer stuff like audio loops, easier sound creator on pc mac etc.
Better polyphony usage, and a bunch of styles sounds to fit todays music in mind

Yes, a module version will be of interest paired with whatever Master keyboard I eventually settle (which might not be a PA5X in the future) pending a Genos replacement, or (with the remote possibility) a new Roland TOTL Arranger...rikkisbears wrote:Hi Guys

Hi ,
might be worth checking out too.
There’s been some added posts on the psr thread above.
6 seconds of sampling? Antony is talking about 21 on our Pa5x’s.! I’ve only ever played around with some drum samples, so don’t really understand what it all means. 6 vs 21
hmm usually bigger is better.
A question on styles cropped up over on Synthzone . One of the keyboard dealers, sells all 3, someone was asking a question on should I look at the event? currently has Genos , maybe getting tired of waiting for Genos 2.
In a nutshell apart from functions, what type of music do you play.
if you are playing allot of standards, Yamaha
Some newer styles, live sound, go PA5x,
EVENT -Latin, and old styles, like waltz etc, Modern styles are lacking, and almost no song specific styles.
Yamaha perfect for me, love standards.
Korg style wise probably not perfect for me as I don’t play modern music, but , any styles I was lacking I used to convert across.
Event for me sounds perfect style wise, love Latin music , love ballroom music. Obviously has other genres as well , but, well worth checking to see if styles suit if one has never owned a Ketron.
Had an sd1 before I bought my pa800, and from memory , yes the Latin and ballroom and country styles were really good. Lack of style editing drove me away back then and I bought pa800.
might be worth checking out too.

Hi Asena, there is a manual available for download on Ketron Italy website. Not very detailed though.Asena wrote:I wonder, if we create a sound, how many layer/osc s can we have.
Main thing for me will be if there is a reliable supplier if/when the module eventually gets released. It’s not going to be my main arranger, but still expensive, and I would want to know there’s backup if something goes wrong and that I can get it fixed. Wouldn’t want to have to send it overseas for repairs
Another thing worth checking would be to make sure the styles suit you. Not much point in having an arranger that uses audio loops , if you have to end up recording your own midi styles.
