New 2023 - Korg Nautilus AT

Post by Bromalex-vic »

A new Korg Nautilus AT was announced today. The Korg UK mail I received states:
Available in 61 and 88-key versions, Nautilus AT extends our Nautilus workstation line-up and offers musicians powerful levels of musical expression with the addition of aftertouch.
A hardware and software modification for "non" AT old Nautilus is offered, unfortunately only in UK and Ireland:
we're also introducing an upgrade service to transform your Nautilus 61 or 88 into a Nautilus AT.
Available exclusively from Korg UK to customers in the UK and Ireland
Cheers

Who the hell is making the marketing decisions at Korg??

First they sell you a Nautilus workstation, that really should have AT for the price bracket as standard

Now they offer it to you as an upgrade for a ridiculous price, anybody who pays for that is a complete mug!!

What’s next, you can buy a Korg workstation but the keys are an after market upgrade.

I thought it couldn’t get any worse with them taking a risk releasing the SE Wavestate/Opsix after selling them in a smaller affordable package when people really wanted a module version

Korg have seriously lost the plot

Hey, I didn't know I had a Kronos AT9SNK

(aftertouch + 9 sliders + numeric keypad). :P

Nautilus owners should wait for the upcoming Nautilus AT9S, then the Nautilus AT9SNK.

And it’s going to be significantly more expensive than the Nautilus without AT. For that price, they should have included 9 sliders for the drawbar organ engine.

Mixed feelings.

Excellent, they remembered that people like aftertouch!

Of course, they did nothing about the other control surface deficits...

... at this price premium? What are they smoking, and where can I avoid it?

Anyone know the cost for the AT upgrade on the RH3 88 note keybed.
Can the firmware be enabled and set to recognize AT data?

Also, to anyone interested in buying a Nautilus 88 with AT, wait to see the first new owners' input about it. I don't want to rain one anyone's parade, but if the AT parts they will add in the Nautilus 88 are identical to what is in the Kronos 88 (after all, the RH3 action is still exactly the same as years ago), you might not enjoy paying for a feature that is very hard to trigger. I solved this problem on my Kronos designing a little hardware mod, basically modifying the AT op-amp circuit. So hopefully they rewrote their AT PCB and/or improved their AT software calibration.

You Know the NAUTILUS would have been 3K USD

Post by icecoldrocker »

the ribbon controller and the AT pad is what brought the price down it would have been at least 3100 with those two components. I was sort of perplexed when I heard of those two components nixed but when I stopped at a music store not too long ago and tried the Nautilus out... and the employee working there said oh you are light years behind with the M3... One ought to be glad that KORG did release something considering how folks are all DAW-ed out these days

Wonder why this version was omitted. May have to do with the amount of keys on the 73. Would it have been available on a '76 key version? :?

This tells me the 73 won't be around for long.
