Anybody using a compresser/limitor for Keyboards

Post by Deadkeys »

To compress and or limit so all sounds are similar volume. Or do you not reccomemd using live due to a loss of dynamics?

Dynamics like compression can make things louder but you need to apply carefully so acoustic piano sounds don't start sounding brittle and harsh. That being said, a little bump on the low end and on the high end can bring piano sounds up better in the mix. As always, your ears will tell you what the right amount is for you. Make sure to listen in different environments, studio and live, to determine what works for you. 8)
