Close to the Edge by YES

Post by Mersip »

Hi all,

Our band has decided to do Close to the Edge by Yes. An incredible song with some of the simplest keyboard parts I've ever heard (tapping a high C on the organ for a whole verse!) and some nice complex chord progressions.

The Kronos 2 has many of the sounds, including the nice big organ in the second half. It also has a Programme called Close to the Edge (😊) which gives me the introduction to the song. At 4 minutes 20 seconds (on the studio version) there is another sound that Rick holds in the middle of the first verse. Does anyone know if there is a Programme on the Kronos that will get me close to that? I can't seem to find anything.

Thanks
Peter

Nice job on both the Yes and Karn Evil.

We do Yours Is No Disgrace, Siberian Khatru, Perpetual Change and I've Seen All People. Currently working on adding America and Roundabout, with Close to the Edge next on the list!

Agreed. Nice job on those covers!

I'd like to gig in a prog tribute band, but there's not a lot of market for a band like that close to my home, and I'm getting too old for road work.

Thank you for the comments on the YES covers. On youtube, you can find the different tracks isolated. Someone got hold of the masters maybe, but you can listen to All Wakeman all the time. Check it~
