Sending Midi Events (Chords) to Korg PA5x

Post by valimaties »

Hi guys.

I have two keyboards, one of them is Korg PA5X, in which I have connected a microphone. I connected the two keyboards thru a midi cable. I want to send the chords played on my second keyboard to my PA5X, to be able to get a correct harmony for the mic.
Could someone please tell me the steps I must do on the PA5X? BTW, the PA5X will have the synchro start enabled and I don't want to automatically start the selected style n PA5X, while I start and play the style on the second keyboard. (I think some filters must be selected in Korg midi page).

Thank you!

Korg Pa5x
1. Settings
2. Midi
3. Midi in controls
4. Set chord 1 channel to receive same channel chords from other keyboard midi out. Be sure chord 2 is set to off on pa5x

What is your other keyboard? I tested this with pa1000…

It's a Genos (1) keyboard... I managed to do it one time, but forgot to save settings... Second time, I tried for a couple of hours and nothing :(

See section 12 of the Genos reference manual. I do the same thing with Roland accordion. Which controls the chord changes on pa5x and harmony.

I see... do you use "MIDI Accord1" midi preset for the accordion, I suppose?

If you are talking about the pa5x, no. I use “chord 1”/channel 3. which is the accordion midi transmit chords.
I turn off all my midi in and midi out channels on pa5x. Filters off. Then save it as my midi default.
It also works the same when I set pa1000 midi out, channel 3 to Chords.
