Shifting a drum mapping - possible?

Post by kronos_timmmy »

Hi all you Forum-members,

when using the transpose-function in the mixer a drumkit stays mapped. Is there a way (beside of creating an own drum-mapping or programming it as a single sound or pad) to use the drum-sound/-instrument e.g. mapped on E4 while „shifting“ the kit (in an unknown way) 4 half steps up that you could play this drum-sound by pressing the C4-key..?

Regards

I believe that the drum kits are all standardised irrespective of whether it's Korg, Yamaha, Roland, etc... irrespective of if you're using built-in sounds on hardware instruments or VSTs in a DAW or live-patch software like Mainstage.

B2/C2 are pretty much ALWAYS kick-drum
C#2 pretty much always rim/cross-stick
D2 pretty much always flat snare
D#2 pretty much always hand-clap
E2 pretty much always snare with slight rim
F#2 pretty much always closed hats struck with stick, G#2 closing hats with pedal, A#3 open hats ..

(slight modification to the above with the "Brush Kit" presets in the PA5X...)

etc.

I've not seen any issues where a transpose will shift drum kits away from their standard mapping (doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to do so anyway, in my opinion)
