Boys choir sounds Oohs' and Aah's.

Post by chelsea4023 »

Hi,
For a good few years I have been trying to get a version of the Boy's Choir Oohs & Aah's sounds that have been on most mid to high end Yamaha arrangers. Currently on the PSR-SX700 upwards.
I have asked a few Forum Members that produce software for Korg arrangers if they can help but despite their reassurances nothing has been forthcoming. Is there an issue with the boys choir sounds that make them incredibly difficult to sample or is that owners of Korg arrangers don't think the boys choir sounds are worth having ?
Are they not useable in everyday music ?

I compare Korg arrangers with Yamaha arrangers and they will both have a wide selection of guitar, string, organ, brass, woodwind, Piano, E.Piano, synth, sax and world sounds yet when it comes to choirs each Manufacturer is different. unfortunately (for me) Yamaha wins hands down in this section.
I would be more than happy to pay if anybody manages to recreate these Boys Choir sounds for a Korg PA Arranger.
Chris

Boys choir sounds 0.00 to 0.47 seconds.

I have the boys choir sound on my Yamaha digital piano but I don’t know how to sample it. I tried with the flamenco guitar but the keyboard doesn’t allow me to import the SF2 file

Hi,
Thanks for trying.
I think the boys choir sounds are incredible and cannot understand why Korg have never made a version for use on their own arrangers. To me, they seem highly useable.
I sometimes listen to the female Opera singer vocal sound Korg use on all their arrangers and it just makes me cringe when I hear it. It is truly awful yet Korg persevere with it. Must be a Japanese thing !!

Hi.
I have Genos and I tell you there is no way to record the Super Articulation sounds from Yamaha. These type of sounds contains scripts that plays legato (or not, depending on how do you play the sequence of keys). Which btw there are other samples involved. Yamaha's sound engine is absolutelly awesome, but regular users does not have access to these types of sound editing parameters.
So, in the end, IMO is not possible to sample Yamaha's S.Art voices and to sounds like in Yamaha keyboard.

Hi Valimaties,
Thank you for your reply. I guessed they would be difficult to sample from a Yamaha arranger, but thankfully the boys choir is not a unique sound to Yamaha.
I'm looking at the possibility of getting a Kontakt VST since I heard Qui and Antony mention that some Kontakt samples can be converted for use on a PA5X.
I also believe there is a Forum Member who has Ravenscroft 275 converted to PA5X Format.

Also there are more EDM synths coming as well. Plucks, basses, leads, huge super saws and more. I'm working on another great alto saxophone sound and few other horns

Hi chelsea4023,
yes you can sample something similar, but also by customizing the existing choir sounds in the PA5x (mix up to 3 and only use a little bit of easy edit - lowering the cut off-frequncies) you get a nice result.
Here's a little mp3-snippet (direct from PA5x) and the referencing keyboard set ... it`s my first attempt to attach a cloud-link (hope it will work):

https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21A ... 5695FA0797

It‘s only a first attempt, you can tweak it if you experiment with the cut-off or other choir-voices...

Regards
Tim

Boys chorus are always necessary for mixed chorus , it's the passage to females but not useful as standalone except Gregorian
type projects and Cinematic stuff since are only 2 octaves and extremely poor regarding their sound timbre.
Most of Musicians use for Chords mixed choir and for solo male & female that are more suitable.

You can't get boys choirs with just tweaking factory male & female chorus it's a totally different timbre that EQ & filters can't achieve.

In WavesArt Pa5X Vocals Suite , we have Boys chorus Stereo Sound for any purpose that user wants to customize a KBD Set.

If you want , use this simple free Pa5X Boys Chorus Sound that is created in User7 Sound bank and ready to load and play.

Οn the other hand you can order of high quality real stereo Pa5X Aah & Ooh Boys Choirs from our service https://wavesart.eu/Hire/
