Hi folks,
I had a look in the manual and cannot seem to find what I am looking for. I am after the midi codes for variation up (IE. VAR 1 -> VAR 2) and code for down variation. Apologies if it is somewhere in the manual.

Sorry - they do not exist. Those (and a few other functions) can ONLY be controlled with assignment switches or the PA5x assignment pedal (on the PA4x and earlier, with the EC5 pedal too)ExTyrosFan wrote:I had a look in the manual and cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Korg thoughtlessly excluded the EC5 pedal support on the PA5x hence limiting the ability to execute those specific functions.
One of the many reasons I have not bought a PA5x yet. I had hoped Korg would have provided a comprehensive MIDI implementation document and matching support in the PA5x OS - but sadly, no.
I had hoped to have resolved this with my FCB1010 MIDI pedal but am now doubting any future support despite Korg's comments that they were "considering it".
Cheers

Yes, that's the list in the manual but the VAR-up VAR-down is not there (including several other functions like SOUND-up/down, Ensemble, Ritardando, Accelerando, and MANY more).
See p526 in the table "Functions assignable to the buttons and footswitches" - where are all the MIDI values for those functions apart from the handful Korg supplied on p580 (per your list above)???
It was bad enough on the PA1x, PA2x, PA3x and PA4x but at least we could use the extra 5 switch pedals in the EC5. We have been screaming at Korg for years to produce a comprehensive MIDI implementation manual but at the moment all those functions are not MIDI configured in the OS.

Re: Midi codes for variation up and down
oh wow,
this sucks. Yamaha has this basic capability (don't tell the fan boys about this one please). I have a 4 switch foot controller. Yes it has multiple banks but my brain is too slow to manage foot switches, styles, controls and playing at the same time as reading sheet music.
My plan was to use two buttons on the foot switch for variation up and variation down and the other two switches to control page up and page down on my iPad for my PDF sheet music. I guess that plan has just been shot down in flames.
So I will need to fiddle between banks using my feet AND play at the same time.

Hi,
I just use 2 cheap piano sustain pedals for vari and down on my PA5x. ( plus a good sustai pedal for sustain itself) 3 pedals in total.
For turning pages on songbook app on my iPad , I have an old Bluetooth Page Flip cicada pedal, consists of 2 pedals with different options on flipping the pages.
Works ok for me ( home use only) at least I no longer get my pedals mixed up.
I don’t really miss my ec5 as I only ever used it for vari up and vari down.
Got good use out of it for 25 years or so.
