I think Korg recognized this issue and created the Import/export CHSEQ's as SMF's Utility as means to edit. Of course, this utility could also be used to bring in a CHSEQ as I liked to do...
Hello Ron,
sorry, I forgot an attachment to see that progression display in CWs piano-roll.

With the Pa4x and its Pa1000-like OS, things are a little different. With these instruments, a style can be recorded and saved with Quick Edit, including changing style elements, saved chord progressions, and changing keyboard sets. This leaves you with both hands free to play while playing, while no event sequencer is required for intentional chords, fills, performance, and style changes.
Siebenhirter - I forgot about this feature in the 4X. It is good way to create the file that will "play" the keyboard. I started using CW for this when they introduced Articulation Maps. An even better workflow than what I described before might be to do the chord sequence in BIAB, drive Quick Record with the chord MIDI file from BIAB and then create a new MIDI that has the chords and all recorded events. I think this is possible but need to try it.

One small problem ... Quick Record has not been implemented on the 5X ... supposed to be coming with OS 1.4.

Short of time this morning so will get back in a day or so on the chord sequence import subject. Will send you more CHSEQ's when I have more time.

Hello Ron,
I've never worked with BiaB before, but I can't imagine anything easier than using Sequencer>Record>StepBackingSequence to enter the chords with the root note / ChordType / Bass note / and then saving the chord track.

I'm pleased to have received some CSC files to analyze in this format. It has the structure I expected, and now time isn't a big issue until you can send more CS files. I've prepared your csc files as SMFs so that they can be imported as chord sequences with the Pa4x – it certainly worked with the Pa1000. Since SMFs don't seem to work as attachments here, I'm sending them to you separately.
*
If anyone is interested to intend using chord files (type .csc) in the Pa4x/1000 (as many other suitable data types such as ChordLooper)
- copy csc files into a folder
- rename files from .csc to .mid (create a file "rename.bat" with one line: rename *.csc *.mid and run it once to rename all files)
- use a hexedit and trim all bytes from the beginning of each MIDI file to "MThd" and save that file.
This is the easiest method and means, that each of these chord files should be suitable for import into a Pa4x/1000, whereby the import should be carried out with SMF>Import>UseChords>From Measure: 2.

This places the chord sequence and its metadata and timestamps into internal memory for playback or saving in styles or songbook entries. However, if you intend to EXPORT these CSs as note events for SMF, please note that this will cause a conversion error by the export utility - at least on the Pa1000.

Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to convenient edit and save an CS- archive as can be done to ChordSequenceLibrary of the Pa5x. Depending on the source of the exported/converted SMF with note events, the conversion error can be resolved easily with few steps. Without resolving, at least a synchronization error will occur, some note events are usually missing or unintentionally altered.
