Using my Studio Logic MP113 bass pedal with PA1000

Post by keyboardbill »

I'm trying to use my MP113 with my PA1000 and use "lower 3" to select and control the bass pedal sound. I've connected them via midi (MP113 midi out to PA1000 midi-in), MP113 uses midi channel 1 (default), and went into PA1000 "midi-in" table, changed channel 1 to "lower 3" and I got nothing. I tried a few other midi changes but was unsuccessful.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Bill,
It's difficult to understand which Pa1000 group you want to control externally, because there's no "Lower3," but either "Lower" or "Upper3."

Therefore, MIDI-In can't be changed to Lower3, but only to the groups listed in Global/MidiIn/TrackAssign.

So if your MP113 is sending on Channel 1, set Pa1000-MIDI-InTrack of Ch01 to that group you want to use via MP113. Regardless of whether you select "Lower," "Upper3," or one of the style groups ("Bass," "Acc..."), the selected group will receive the MIDI note events from the MP113 and will play Pa1000 (if MP113 really send messages).

It's important that
1. the selected group isn't set to volume "zero."
2. the selected group is set to "Mute" in the keyboard set, otherwise it will be controlled twice – once internally and once via MIDI.
3. the selected group is not set to "External" in the TrackControls.
4. if you selected an "Upper" group, do not limit upper/lower notes with "Range/Velocity".
kind regards

Thanks for the reply. I would like to control the bass pedal board from upper 3 - my mistake in the original post.

I will take your recommendations and give it try over the weekend and let you know the results.

I really appreciate your help.

Bill
