Is the Pa5x Really that Bad?
I'm actually very impressed with the Pa5x. I've had the the 2x and 4x for many years and the 5x looks to be a great upgrade. The styles and voices sound amazing.
Is it really such a BAD instrument???

PA5X is Not BAD, it,s missing the features we need.

That's reassuring; I know there are growing pains, but the instrument sounds amazing. As long as I can migrate my Pa4x Sets and Songbook into the 5x, I should be content. Is that doable?
I should add, I'm looking at the Pa5x, the Ketron Event, and the Genos 2 and trying to decide which to go with.

Event is a loop player with very old sound modul... Play with styles or midi without audio and you will see what I mean....
Genos 2 - like we now know - could be a Genos 1 with a OS update
But everyone can choose what they want.

I'm "relatively" happy with my PA5X-88 even though I waited six months for the darned thing.
Just a few minor issues that annoy me, but otherwise happy ... at least with version 1.2.0 ... I'll wait a little while before applying 1.2.1 though.
I mostly use it in "sound edit" mode though with a few execeptions, since I use a loopstation externally... I only sometimes use the "arranger" mode when I want to layer sounds or program a specific sequence.

No, not really. Unless you are a sound developer, but it looks like that may have been addressed as well.kbrkr wrote:I'm actually very impressed with the Pa5x. I've had the the 2x and 4x for many years and the 5x looks to be a great upgrade. The styles and voices sound amazing.

Hi,
I own a PA5X but have not been playing it that often due to an extension build on my house (which has been going on since April). It's more or less finished so hope to get more playing time soon. I really don't regret my purchase, although it's dropped in price since I bought it. Even if I loved the Genos 2, the price (£5,000 U.K. is ludicrous) would be far too high for me.
Last night I travelled from London to Ascot Keyboard Club and heard Rod Pooley play a Concert with just a PA5X (76 note) and a set of Monitor speakers. He played for over 90 mins without a single issue or glitch occurring. He is such a talented keyboard player who has joined the U.K. Korg Team and showed how good the keyboard can sound and also how general playing is not hampered by some of the O/S issues not yet dealt with by Korg.

Re: Is the Pa5x Really that Bad?
I think it’s a superb instrument. I have the 88 key version and absolutely love it. It’s a great digital piano and a world class arranger in one instrument combined. I don’t have any issues with it. And over time I’m convinced Korg will come up with system upgrades / extensions and extra styles and sounds. No complaints here, but I’m just a hobbyist playing for fun.kbrkr wrote:I'm actually very impressed with the Pa5x. I've had the the 2x and 4x for many years and the 5x looks to be a great upgrade. It is nice to read so many positive comments about the Pa5X, especially now that there is one on its way to my address.
I've spent a lot of time reading and watching videos, so now I'm looking forward to putting theory into practice.
In fact, it was my relatively brief acquaintance with the Pa4X that made me go for the Pa5X instead of changing the G1 to the G2, and I'm reasonably sure that it will be a very good combination that will bring a lot of joy.
The prey of Genos will have to wait until the desire and the temptation become too heavy to resist.
I hope that I don't start talk in my sleep so that my wife hears it, if I do, then I won't get to experience whether it is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

You’ve already bought the instrument . It’s a bit redundant to ask if it’s really that bad …. If you need the affirmation of others then I can add that it’s probably going to be a terrific purchase for you so long as you do t place too many demands on the instrument other than selecting styles and sounds as provided from the factory , and you don’t try to be too creative with editing .
Listen , I wish you many years of happiness with your instrument or if it doesn’t work out for you, at least that you don’t lose too much money on it .
Have a great Christmas

Re:
No more korg arranger. Why :
-Effect master not enough,
-Vocal harmoniser sing bad intervals, in harmony settings is parameter, turn left, turn rigt no effect
-In startup on player 1 bad keyboard set CANT MEMORISE
-Music studio is wery bad, not easy to edit por transparency
-Chord, editor is wery wery complicated and not transparent to clear mesure or changed wrong chord, why we need it. Al is superficial and opaque.
-Complette keyboard is equiped with all and nothing all is only 30 % finished.
-swich is bad after few mounts broacken but im not raw
-All efect maby only 10 useful
-marix, pads not enough loud
-kaos pad frosen
Old pa1x more stabile, work much more bether. After 25 year korg make plastic fantastic worster arranger. WHOO IS MAIN KEYBOARD ARITECT ?
INSTEAD THIS PA5X IS BETHER TABLET MP3 PLAYBACK COMPLETE AND BONTEMPI TOY KEYBOARD FOR 50 € WORK MORE EASY AND CHAPEST.!
IM TOTALY DISAPOINT AND FRUSTRATED MY 5500 € I PUT IN GARBAGE. KORG SHAME OF YOU IT IS THE WORST MODEL IN ALL KORG HISTORY.
it is not soitable for stage as a life arranger instrument maby as playback player. BUT TO EXPANSIVE.

Re: Is the Pa5x Really that Bad?
Never experienced the PA4X so can not compare - I'm "reasonably" happy with the PA5X, however speaking for myself a couple of things or features could be introduced to make it a killer Korg keyboard.
1. Korg are really good at making software versions of keyboard hardware, so why can't they make an equivalent software version of the PA5X that is native preset / style compatible, or how about a KORG DAW that is 100% compatible with Korg keyboards?
Yamaha offer a small PC based MIDI Song to Style converter program - why can't Korg go a little better with their very own Korg DAW for Korg Keyboards?
It may only be 2025, but to have such an expensive Korg keyboard that actually works with 'a DAW', or has it's own software version would be - cool.
2. I would prefer working with WAV or FLAC for production. To use a quote from elsewhere "MP3 is a consumer codec - it should not be used in production. It removes a lot of data to shrink the size as much as possible, hiding frequencies that are masked by other frequencies to the human ear. It will not give you any good if you use MP3s in any production. Use something that is not lossless."
Now if WAV or FLAC is not technically possible to achieve with the PA5X with future OS updates, then point 1. would offer a "solution" of sorts.
Other than that, what a lovely keyboard, it is true everything else really seems not that bad!
