Something doesn't make sense to me, the specs talk about 314mb of PCM memory but in the video Rich F. talked about 4 GB for the piano alone. Also, the specs say 1gb of sample ram. How do those things jive?
The piano on the video sounds amazing. I can't see Korg releasing something at this price point unless it really is a leap forward.

See where it talks about Virtual Memory Technology (VMT)? It apparently loads samples dynamically from the SSD, using RAM as a cache. SSD is fast and doesn't require a spindle to spool up or a disk to travel under a read/write head. It probably only needs to keep a small bit of each sample in RAM, since the SSD reads will be fast enough to load the rest of the sample by the time it's needed to be played.

It seems that a new synth these days, it takes an exponential amount of time to get to know the synth, compared to the old days of the 90's which had only 1 engine and a few things, compared to synths of today.

Because of the posibilities available, noone will really delve into the depths of the instruments at hand and I fear that the world will turn into:

Preset Playing Potheads!
You see this is where I think you're wrong. Something that deep (Yet seems intuitive) is BEGGING to be programmed. I mean really, how long would it take you to run out of ideas for new sounds? You could go in a programming FRENZY for years and still have a lot of ground to cover! Personally I think you'd run out of ideas before running into the limitations of the machine. Based on the promotion demonstrations at least.

Hmmmm... no mention of a vocoder. I'm assuming that's part of AL-1?

Also, why can't they put a HUGE ribbon on something like this? :(
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
