Hi Rikki, yes, you are right, the Audya will be expensive, for right now i can
put the Threshold at 5500$ and i know it will be a lot more, at least 2xPA2X.
1. SD1+ does MIDI to STYLE on its owm, maybe you missed it somehow.
2. Yes, there is no Event Editor, i miss that but since i create everything in
a DAW sequencer it gives me a lot more then an Event Editor which to me it
doesnt make any difference.
3. I didnt have any problems with COPY between elements.

But the Pattern (Style) Editor in general for right now i way better and easier
then anything else...i love the way that you dont have to go to check or uncheck
ORIGINAL SOUNDS, you just change sounds and do anything you want
without affecting the Variaton Progams...i love the way the FX work.
You choose a Delay, you set it up, you save it as USER PRESET, then no
matter what you do on another sound you just call it up, there is no COPY FX
or look at other parameters to do the same but you save FX as USER PRESETS
and you call them on any sound. I love that it doesnt have a Sequencer,
it is an Arranger and it has everything an Arranger needs.
Yes, it has a little les detailed Soud Editor but hey its an Arranger, not a
Solo mashine...on the other side...is there any Sounds better then this?
Did you check the Accordeons? Bass Lines? Drums? What about the ACOUSTIC
and Spanish Guitar...Telecaster, Stratocaster?...ehehehehe...they ROCK

It was funny the first time i plugged it on my PA, the Drums Just threw me
away...i was like oopppss...this can do That?

Actually i just found out, the MIDI to STYLE on SD5 can be done in a diff
way...you actually create the MIDI part in CUBASE (for example) and you
connect the synth to CUBASE...Sync them and once you hit Record on SD5
everything gets recorded the way it is on the MIDI part in CUBASE...which
is almost the same thing...for me probably beter, easier and faster.

I believe that in Australia the price should be around $7k, if its any more, it wouldn't matter how good it was, I dont believe it will sell, I mean you are talking Oasys teritory here, and I cant see it at all, so I hope that Ketrons strategy would be to knock the comps off thier feet with a price that will make it attractive to the current crop of owners. And also for this to be a winner for them, they must sell numbers, its the only way to offset costs of r&d, if purchasers hold off on the buy until other manufacturers start comming up with more features and new options then any ground that Ketron could make will be lost

I am expecting the Audya to be around $9,000. Problem in Australia is that it is distributed and sold through a single outlet in Sydney - Australia is as big as the USA - this makes it hard to "touch & feel" the Audya.

I am a Korg die-hard too. Korg revolutionized the Arranger keyboard with the i-series and other manufacturers have done little more than struggle to even come close in my personal opinion. Yes the Ketron does look pretty impressive but I agree with Nedim - I think it is a very different keyboard to the PA2XPro and wouldn't compare - it would be like comparing the Triton with the OASYS - apart from a massive difference in price, the keyboards are really for different markets (for example, some keyboarders love the technology and spend more time with it than the music and of course visa versa. - Nothing wrong or bad about either approach - it all comes back to personal needs).

Anyhow, I don't know about you guys, but I will not believe the "Audya" until it is here - it has had some massive release delays so far.

Agree Rob - the worse thing about topics getting off track is that often one misses out on some very informative comments as in this thread.

I don't think it was Korg that revolutionised the Arranger workstations with the i3. I personally think that it was GEM/general music with their WX2, that was more then a year ahead of i3.

Next to that i think that those people back in itally that did GEM WX2 are now working for Ketron in itally.

The Pa2x is potentially a fabulous reconfigurable arranger keyboard. As a stand alone arranger with fixed sound and styles it is superb. But its main shortcoming for me is the great difficulty and huge amount of effort involved in using its reconfigurable aspects.

The first issue was that Korg had not properly tested the Pa2x with loading external .SET files. OS1.00 crashed all the time after loading user samples. Then the MP3 player had not been tested properly and kept locking up. Then the Vocal harmoniser didn't work properly. All of this points to inadequate resources on software design and testing.

Even now that the basic software seems to be operational (with OS1.11), it still takes days of tedious work to load and merge .SET files containing styles and sounds from multiple sources, and then edit them to fix all the broken style to sound linkages.

It seems a great shame that you and I should spend so much money on a very expensive programmable sampler/ arranger when it takes so much effort to use anyone else's styles and sounds on it. Korg told me that this situation with file management on Korg Pa keyboards will not improve in the foreseeable future. They think there is no user demand for it. And that it is better to spend their development money on new bells and whistles. Time will tell.

I think it was better for them to make versions of OS like in computers [builds] "Alfa" for Korg, and "BETA" for testing by users [with out high hopes that it will work prefect], and only after that, to tell us that the new OS from now on is the first OS.
It was wonderful for them for there name, and for us- to find faster all the little things that can be better and maybe to find more things then there programmers, that for sure dos not use all the options, like all the members here.
Way for hell they do not do it like that?
And with this potential, they can have time for every thing that can be ask, and they will find that things can be more important from what they was thinking before….[like your subject…]

For example- today I have see a men that was asking me about the pa800 [he has ROLAND and thinking to change to KORG [there are people here that take counsel with me …[and a lot of them buy KORG after this counsel] and want to know about the little things that there is times that KORG do not think they important for all the users, BUT KORG DO NOT KNOW that those things [and just those!] was the thing that can make that men to do the change!

I know that a KB that have all the options, for all kind of way of use for all kind of users, can be the best and the winner in selling, [and after that even other people learn the advantage of this options, and do not stop to use them…]

And unfortunately I do not think that the idea of "letter to your Korg distributor or retailer" can be useful…. They have BIG PROBLEM of communication between them and daddy KORG as you know… and letter can be even not read in your Korg distributor or retailer… sorry to say…. I'm living it and do not lie to my self…. Only Paolo and this forum can do a lot of change, if KORG will be smart to listen.

The only thing that I can do for you now is to pray to G-D to give them a good thought to do the best for us and certainly will be the best for them in selling.
There mistake is that they do not know how many selling they lose for little options they do not do\have, people say "If it do not give me that thing…" [Say for example-all kind of fonts in lyrics, OR your subject-"3rd party", OR easy work with midi and more…], way will I take the PA800?
-"For me it is needed, and for "that" it be worthwhile for me to buy it, and not to stay with my KB"… "OR to prefer the E80 of Rolland" –[for example], only because a little option that it has and the PA800 do not,
even that the PA800 has other good things that the E80 do not has,
- For them –if it does not has there needs it dos not helpful, THAT IS A FACT OF LIFE! [reality... KORG.... reality!]

KORG be smart- and think about all kind of users! With out "minor or major", and you will see what wonderful music the selling will have….

I sometimes get a bit carried away. Apologies, but I wrote something that could have been misleading.

hi Nedim, sorry I used the wrong expression, what I meant was the sd1 doesn't have the midifile to style import/export function that korg has. It's a feature I really luv in the PA800. I know styles can be recorded pc to sd1 via midi, for me it's a bit behind the times. Haven't had to do that since my Roland G800.

Rob, obviously there's some issues with Korg, I've had a few of my own with my Ketron, but this really isn't the place to air them.

So apologies for hijacking your thread.

They are working on pa3xAMG now, to sell it to you guys next year
