Magic mouse is cool but I love the apple track pad. I haven't touched a mouse for over a year, ever since I got the trackpad.

Get a touchscreen... Nothing works better for music production and intuitive real time controll

Me is oposit.
There is a touch pad on my mother Mac Book Air, but i always use magic mouse. Mouse is more percise and needs less strenth and i really love touch gesters on magic mouse

Funny, I got one of those trackpads and hated it. It shouldn't have surprised me as I hate the one on my laptop!

I love the Magic Mouse though, being able to scroll through spaces with a two finger slide, back and forwards with one finger, scroll up and down with one finger, double two finger tap for all spaces and it still works as a mouse. Bloody brilliant thing.

Now that is funny! Glad we have choices. I had a problem with precision at first but the more I use it the less it is an issue. Pop onto a knob or slider use a couple fingers to drag it where I want, just seems to work well for me.

It's a good job we are not all the same, what a boring place the world would be if we were.

The new MacPro arrived.

Its silent and fast but not without problems, some common sense seems to have been missing in the design department.

The power switch is in a stupid place, around the back surrounded by the usb and thunderbolt cables.

There is no way of telling if the machine is on, no lights, nothing. Total insanity.

I have been having issues with usb devices as well, my Virus TI isn't recognised and my elicenser is not working correctly.

I am also having a problem where 25% of the time it doesn't shut down and requires me to hold down the power switch for 10 seconds to kill it.

While the round design is kinda pretty and helps to stand out from the crowd, I really don't get it. It seems a decision completely motivated by style. My friend, a Mac user since the very beginning, actually built his first Hackintosh last month because he couldn't fit his MOTU card into the new Mac Pro.

I think style had a lot to do with it.

The cooling system is pretty amazing though, the machine is basically silent even when pushed hard. You can only hear it if you put your ear right up to it.

That's definitely a nice feature for a studio computer!
I should really get some silent fans for mine sometime.

personally i like my track pad, i will pick up a mouse if my hand gets fatigued. My big issue with touch screens is fingerprints during longer sessions they start to get annoying

Round is good in a sound room...

Post by John Hendry »

Well I don't know if after getting one I'd be glad I did but one thing I noticed that's sweet is it's round and in a sound room that rocks big time reducing reflections, the small size, the cooling, and the PCIe storage doesn't go through the SATA interface which increases latency and limits throughput so I'm thinking this might turn out to be a strange looking but cool quite machine for a sound studio with great stability due to more than just the ECC ram. But I've been out of computers for a longgg time, never owned a Mac (but want one) unless my Franklin Ace 1000 counts as Apple compatible, and would do some serious homework first.

But I like "different" when it works and makes things smaller especially in a sound room since it's round. My John Bower Active Ones were different and I was called an idiot for buying them (as no one puts the amps in the speaker cabinets) instead of Kef 101s that cost more with amps not counting wire....and sounded like junk compared to the John Bowers. Wait and see on this little guy.... "different" is usually an extreme to one side or the other.
Think Peace...

It is not just about design, it has very good thermal capabilities which makes machine to be dead silent even on max performance. U might not even get that silent machine on max performance even with liquid cooling with the traditional desctop case.
