For example - step jump is incredible. And it's not an audio looper - it's retriggering a step in the sequence in time with the beat. While it's held down, you're still free to tweak the XY pad, insert effect, oscillator pitch, filter, etc.

You can be moving multiple knobs wile blasting step jump finger-drumming breaks and it all works in real time.
Is it possible to record this as midi, or is it just a realtime thing?

Looks like it's just realtime. I hit record and played with step jump but it did't change the recorded pattern. Still a nice performance trick, though.

+1 Nate! I agree

It is an instrument, not a instant song maker. All instruments require time, patience and practice. And all have limitations. It if doesn't work for you, just sell it, move on, and find the instrument for you. Just because you can play one instrument, doesn't mean you are in complete control of a different one. Switching between two similar guitars require some adjustment. But one will just feel more "right" for someone, but doesn't make the other broken.
Good points - sometimes you just have to take the machine for what it is and make the best of it. The Roland TB-303 was originally marketed for guitar players, and let’s just say it didn’t quite sound like a bass guitar. People got over it.

Right now I’m happily running the Monotribe through the audio input on the Electribe and best of all, I can now sync the Monotribe with other Midi devices. I still can’t believe the Monotribe engineers forgot about Midi. Korg must have some tokers on its staff.

But back to the Electribe - I’m keeping it. :D

The monotribe midi mod is one of the easiest & do-able mods there are, basically it does have midi in/out for notes, you just need to add the sockets. The only real mod is the drill holes in the case...or an outboard box.
My current Korg gear. MS20 Mini... & now the .... Oh, maybe not !
...Had a few other Korg things over the years.

Yeah, it'll still be cool to have, as I'll be recording performance stuff. Can't wait to get my hands on one! :D
