What inspires your choice of music for a scene?
For more complex scenes, I try and find the subtext and punch that up. Always fun, when a scene isn't coming across dry, but with the music added, the meaning is understood. More generally, I'm looking at mood and timing, as you said. Once, I come up with the movie's title theme, plus the protagonist's and antagonist's themes, I can weave those with more general romantic, chase (action), suspense, heroic, and sorrowful pieces.
I'm not a movie buff, but is John Carpenter an influence?
.
He's the reason I bought synths. I wasn't going to be a composer, but his themes seemed simple and relatable enough for me to think that I might be able to do that. I was already a soundtrack connoisseur, and had a good ear for picking out parts that I could use in my early film work. I can't play worth a damn, but somehow it made sense for me to try simple composition, and grow from there.

That was great, Mike. I especially liked the graphic popups. Good advertising for KApro.

Thanks! Kurt saw it and liked it. I told him he could use it, if he wants. Here's the entire video, with me explaining what's going on:

I know I've talked about how many libraries I have loaded up, but now it's more than ever! Check out the 7min, 35sec mark for my library load.

If it seems to you that I'm busy...., I am! I'm working on 2 indie features, at the same time. Here's the trailer for DRONE DOWN. Spearheaded the music score with the Kronos, of course.

I posted the music awhile ago, was really going to shelf this piece until seeing what is going on in Afghanistan, I decided to release it along with video dedicated to those that serve.

Well not 100% Kronos but close. Guitars and Horns where mostly played live eventually or doubled with the Kronos.

That's how pro's do it! Great performance. Great audience. Perfect piano performance. Spot-on Steve Perry vocals. And the hair - long hair is a must to complement the vocals

Seems like your band would be well suited for Kansas covers too. Some great 70s/80s rock when singers actually sang and musicians actually played. Glad to see people back out and about and enjoying themselves.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, we've been fairly active throughout the pandemic, luckily and enjoy watching the music take people back to their youth. We have another band with the same players that is called, ICONIC. We touch on hits from the 60's through today and focus on some of the big 70's and 80's rock hits that allow our lead singer the chance to shine. Thanks again!

Hi, Yuma
Very cool piece. Is it from Kronos only ?
Just a little point : I think the Sync Lead volume is a bit too high, relatively to the ensemble.
