The only thing I can think of in this moment (I bought it a couple of days ago) is:

-Allow to change MIDI channel for parts in order to make more versatile midi sequencing external gear.

As a none user ,I like the
-Reduce voice stealing for muted tracks
&
-midi start for event recorder
Suggestions.

You can mimic parameter locking pretty well using the step jump record trick.

Say you want to set the level for step 1 at 100.
Set the level to 99.
Put the sequencer into step jump mode.
Press record and hit play.
Press and hold pad 1 (which will correspond to step 1)
Still holding pad 1, move the level knob slightly clockwise.
The motion sequence icon will flash briefly on and the red record light will switch off. You have now recorded a level value of 100 into step 1.

You can record a parameter value into multiple steps at the same time by holding down multiple pads.

Forum member Steinberger posted this trick a while back and it was a game changer for many people, including myself.
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

My list is short:

[1] Problem: the metronome is extremely, ear-damaging loud, especially on headphones.

Solution: Lower the metronome level to an acceptable, ear-friendly level

Perfect solution: Add a preference to control the metronome volume.

[2] Problem: the step sequencing/editing workflow is frustrating and involves too much menu diving to be usable.

Solution: Make the default step value C3 instead of C4. Make the step edit menu circular. The note value menu should be the first menu screen, then gate length, velocity etc. Just a simple fix of the menu order will improve the workflow 1000x times!

Perfect Solution: Somehow combine the keyboard and sequencer mode so specific notes can be entered via the keyboard/pads instead of rotating the data dial.

[3] Bug: pattern timing falls apart after you exit from step jump mode. If a pattern has a shuffle value larger than zero, or a groove template set to one of its parts, the timing/note positions will fall apart after you release the step jump option. You have to restart the pattern to bring back the shuffle/groove you’ve set.

I ask only for those 3 things. If this will be fixed, me and my E2 will live happily forever. I ask for nothing else.

Things that I can live without, but can add to a „wishfull thinking” category:

Option to turn quantisation on/off. May be impossible to implement though.

I am only posting one thing here, based on the idea of "If they said they'd fix only one issue what should that be?2

Sample memory on the SD card.
It is nothing but a ball ache to have different all files with different sets of samples on.
256MB?
I have on my PC thousands of samples. I want to get a load of classic drum machine sounds, some percussion, some off FX etc - maybe even some synth samples....
And i start loading up and suddenly - "memory full".
If this was resolved I'd be very happy

I have a few very simple requests which would be so easy to implement:

The ability to turn off recording input note quantise currently we have 1/16 and 1/32 the should add 1/64 and off.

Freely assignable mute groups (alternate pads feature not restricted to 13/14 & 15/16)

Drag and drop sample management; like I want to be able to plug my electribe to my computer and drag and drop samples in. to the any memory slot.

You can do it yourself.
Turn on all steps in sequencer mode. Go to step edit. Set note at each step to C3. Exit step edit. Turn off all steps in sequencer. Save pattern as template for future use.
Now if you turn jn any step in sequencer it will be C3
Sorry for my poor English

First its ~25 MB (joke of the century), second how do you expect them to "fix" low memory hardware with software?

I've seen several people ask for "No Quantization" I think you have a gross misunderstanding of how digital systems work. There will always be quantization in a digital system. Now you can increase the resolution to a point that it's undetectable, but there is no way to "turn off" quantization. You want no quantize, play your synth into an analog tape machine, the resulting recording will be unquantized.

Now I'll agree that 1/16th or 1/32nd quantize can feel a bit rigid, and many older sequencers and 480 PPQN resolution, Thats 480 pulse per quarter note, 480 slices that your note can land on between quarter notes which is pretty effectively unquantized as far as the human ear can detect.

I doubt that it would be possible to implement 480PPQN on the electribes as they are now. Honestly I doubt that a lot of these requests could be implemented on the hardware as it is now, yes some minor things like circular menus, better info on the displays, improvements to the step editing, should be easy to do, but things like 8 bars, more filter models on the sampler, increased sequencer resolution, will cause exponential memory use and it seems clear that the machines are already pushing the limits of their hardware.would you be willing to have half as many patterns to get 8 bars per pattern? half again to 1/64 note quantize, which with the way KORG implements it would put you down to 1 or 2 bar patterns (depending on whether the machine was increased to 8 bars or not)?

Simply put I think some of the request's are not doable until an ELECTRIBE 3 with better hardware.

pattern chaining - could be implemented as simply as allowing multiple patterns to be selected in pattern set mode.

list so far

Post by Cade »

This is what i have so far from this thread:

-to be able to use the entire capacity of the SD card for samples (Increase sample memory on the SD card, not just 270 [mono] seconds)
-the playback of Event Recordings to be able to synchronize with external sequencers
-make the step sequence menu circular so you can left arrow from the on / off screen to the velocity screen
-Waveform display option (like Minilogue) when sounds are triggered
-step record and direct access to step edit
-synced step jump so it stays in time on release
-Song mode or editable event recorder
-BPM LFO's parameterized by musical values
-Improve the step sequencer by using the track pad to enter gate and velocity
-no pattern gap when switching patterns (long notes get killed when changing a pattern)
-better voice management (even when no fx and no polyphony is activated, just 10-11 tracks can play simultaneously without voice stealing
-copy/paste bars
-8 bars per pattern
-pattern chaining
-faster boot and loading times from SD card
-minimum waveform representation on the screen - for quick editing
-streaming samples directly from the SD card
-follow the playback position on the pads
-display the steps in the Step Jump mode
-MIDI channel choice per part (would allow part layering)
-Record with quantize off or alternate quantization
-Realtime or destructive pseudo MIDI LFO to pitch, velocity, length value, or motion events (pan, volume) to simulate sidechain, tempo locked effects, etc.
-Apply swing and groove values (i.e. destructive as opposed as realtime) to the events timing
-Visual display of scales and chords played on part
-Realtime voice/dsp usage display on screen
-Filter keyboard tracking
-Timeslices to be loopable on the E2S as it was on the ESX with 1/30 of a second being repeated
-Send CC automation values to MIDI out
-Reduce the disturbing noice when power save mode is enabled and audio in is set to through
-Pads should blink in Mute mode
-In Mute mode press/hold the Mute button to select tracks/pads\
-Revised (Advanced) arpeggiator
-Change order of time slices
-Reduce voice stealing for muted tracks
-midi start for event recorder
-Add a preference to control the metronome volume
-Somehow combine the keyboard and sequencer mode so specific notes can be entered via the keyboard/pads instead of rotating the data dial

I will be adding a bit more and trimming this down a bit to focus on the (20 or so) most important features to add and problems to address. I am sure Korg doesn't want a huge list of 200+ things, they may feel intimidated.
:?
I have not had the chance to go through the other thread (here: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=95201) for the other listed fixes.

-Still compiling, but hoping to get this wrapped up by the end of this week and possibly complete the petition on the weekend-

Thank you very much for your time @Cade
I hope that this will provide a good outcome.

just a quick comment for those who think we can not ask too much from Korg... that we must remain realistic etc.etc.
when I saw that my E2S would be very limited in terms of external sequencing, I invested in the "Pyramid" (from the french company "Squarp") for this use.
Just for comparison here is an excerpt from the list of features planned for the next update:
Some of the PyraOs 0.86 new features:
- Live Looper
- Quick copy / paste / delete track in Live Mode
- Hard record
- Player tracking option (pages Follows player)
- New piano roll
- Step-by-step "learn chords" with an external keyboard
- Add song sequences in the chain with a length <1 bar
- 32 sequences of 16 INSTEAD
- New FX: Stick to scale
- New FX: Equalizer
- New FX: Note to CC
- New FX: Delay
- New FX: Chance
- New FX: BPM
- ASSIGN touchpad to smartpads to play Rating
- Delete projects on SD card
- Faster startup Pyramid
- More RAM memory, CPU performance optimized
- Graphic improvements
- Bugs fix

knowing that there is an update every 1 or 2 months ...
and Squarp is a company of 3 people only...
you will not get me to believe that a company like Korg can NOT do an update on a product such the electribes

but you will easily convince me they do not WANT to do it .. ;-)

A song mode/pattern chaining would be my top priority.

If my small pocket operators ( PO-20/24/28 ) can chain up to 128 patterns it wouldnt seem completely impossible would it? :)

All what I need is possibility to regulate send level of each trigger to Master FX or let Korg add reverberator into Insert FX's!
Without this it's just a toy and not professional gear!!!
My workstations in the middle of 90's gave me this possibilities , but tooday is 2016 and Korg policy so shoking...

And Yes, I've registered only for writing this message

For me it's like this:

1. Fix notes getting cut off when changing patterns. I think this could also satisfy my desire for 8 bar patterns or a song mode because I'd be ok with just paging through patterns to create structured music. I just hate that their bug makes my music sound like it's full of bad editing.

2. Allow event recorder to sync to a midi clock and allow it to loop. It's straight up midi data, man. Between this and the above you have a rough song mode.

3. Allow for a Save As...for .all files from the device.

4. Same as above but for the pattern data.

5. This one is not that big a deal but it would be nice if they replaced the main filter and resonance with the IFX versions because the IFX filters are so much smoother. Like drastically so. If it's all digital anyway then

I don't build grooveboxes or code software but given what the electribes already do it feels like they could re-allocate resources to this stuff. I'd even be ok with them giving us the option to turn features on and off to free up whatever is needed for things you find more important.
