Why can you rename the Favorite Banks but not the User Banks? There must be a reason for this configuration but it is not obvious to me.
In Pa600 Style set are:
Factory: BANK01~15
Favorite: FAVORITE01~12
User: USER01~03
PA600 has banks with 40 Styles
Pa4x banks has 48 styles per bank
also has less banks
13 Factory, 10 Favorite and 3 User.
You can rename (filename) however you like, but then you can't load all, Korg only load banks with name is recognized, but even with custom name you still can load manually, BTW is great tip for keep extra styles in custom Banks filename, easy to recognize it.

Thanks for your reply, I understand all that but my question was referring to the layout of User and Direct banks in the PA4X. Why are they named 'Favorite 1-10' and 'User 1 - 3' ? Why not 'User Banks 1 - 13'? Also why can you not rename the 'User Banks'? That is what makes no sense to me.

filename is design for machine and programmers, not for users friendly view on PC.... and believe me is making perfect sense.
Direct is a clone of Favorite and User, no needed to be special filenames.

Your documentation states that you have improved the internal (GM?) sounds
I didn't improve the GM sounds. It's not possible as far as I know in a normal usage.
In the styles which were using the GM sounds especially for Bass and Drums, I instead replaced them with Facory or Legacy sounds or sometimes User drums which really sound better.
When you import new styles from other format or older PA, the tracks sounds are often remapped to GM sounds. I recommend to manually customize them as I did, with factory or legacy sounds which have better quality and more diversity. This avoids to have all styles sounding the same with basic bass sound and standard drum kit.
