Hi Shadowhankron,

Go to https://dopamine4korg.wordpress.com/

Download either Dopamine 2.5 or 2.6 and load this into your PA4X.
Your user banks will be filled with 1,200 additional styles, 1,400 sounds, 760 pads and 320 performances. This is all in addition to the factory styles, sounds pads and performances already in the PA4X.
All this software is given free of charge.

Yamaha Forums are very good for member participation and you can pick up many good individual styles from members. Nowhere on any Yamaha forum will you find as many free styles as Dopamine provides in his compilation. PSR Tutorial do provide (annually) disks of styles and extras for purchase. Yamaha themselves sell styles individually, but for free style software Korg has the edge (in my opinion).
Could anyone who disagrees please provide a link to the free style software that Yamaha provide.

Why would you spend the best part of £3,000 U.K. on a flagship arranger and then decide to get rid of it without exploring all the options available to you ?

There are sections on the keyboard that I really struggle with, but the manual is comprehensive, and there are many videos on Youtube and forum members are there to help.
I hope you keep the PA4X and give yourself some time to get to grips with it.

Hi Chris
Thank you for your comments, I heard of this Dopamine site but afraid to use it.
What type of styles are on this are they better than the factory styles on korg pa4x.
You mention sounds too....What sounds are there that already are on the factory sounds.

Finally, if I download the Dopamine onto USB stick, how do I load it into the pa4x.

I guess it overwrites the styles in the favourites and user sections, but where do the sounds lodge in the Korg.

Thanks again

Hi,
There is pretty much every type of style on Dopamine's set. Lot's of styles from previous PA arrangers. Probably lot's of other manufacturer's arranger styles converted to Korg format. The sounds would be ones created using internal sounds from the PA arrangers and using the onboard editing features. There may even be some additional samples.
When you download the dopamine set, there will be a file explaining how to load the set. Have a read on the dopamine forum to get an idea of how it all works.
There are user sections not just for styles, but for sounds also.

I am a little confused when you say, "afraid to use it".
The instructions will tell you exactly what to do. I loaded it with no problems.
Currently I am using a similar piece of software (which is pretty much the same as Dopamine's set) provided by the company I purchased my PA4X from. It does virtually the same thing, giving me additional styles, sounds and pads to the factory ones.
Chris

p.s. As far as I am aware, Dopamine's set is not aimed at overwriting existing factory data on the PA4X, but to fill up all those empty user slots.

I installed it and it overwrites the factory stuff so backup before installing, it is not fully compatible with the PA4X so try the Styles but be wary of the Sounds.
It is a very useful collection.

Chris...You mention."I am a little afraid to use Dopamine's styles was answered by Stilli

I thought Dopamine's could just be loaded into user and favourites sections.

Guess it won't work out for me, another blunder of the PA4x .

I believe you can load into user areas only by selecting individual Styles etc but if you just load from the main .SET folders it will overwrite the Factory styles ..... at least it did when I loaded it. There is some good stuff in there and worth trying.

Yes, you can load individual styles/sounds etc from any valid PA SET
You just use the "OPEN" button on the screen until you find the bank or style you want and then you can choose where you want to load them.

Cheers

Thanks Pete for your input

I now loaded some of the Dopamine styles into user banks , next question...
I want to Save those user banks onto USB stick to load separate styles from the USB....But do not know how to do this.

I have tried to read and understand the manual on this subject, but failed to understand how to follow it up.
Also how do I create a folder .Set.
Sorry for silly request..But manuals and I don't get along,.,.....

Also has anyone got really great song styles to share please.

Many Thanks
Ronnie.
