Jo Martins wrote:Hi,
I purchased recently a PA4X , coming from a PA3X.

The original 3X piano was far from perfect but to my ears it has some bright that cut over the styles. Not the best for solo piano (I'm a pianist) but nice with styles.

Now, the 4X piano is great for solo piano but with styles it's so, so dark and thick. I tried EQ and editing the filters but seems like there's no high frequencies in it. Does yours sound too dark too? I'm at OS 1.2.4

Does the 4X have also the piano samples from 3X?

Thanks,
Jo
Skip factory piano... Korg does not know to setup a good piano in arranger keyboard, last syntietic good piano was on M1 :D ... Arranger piano samples : Too dark, muddy, completely waisted ROM memory for that Korg's "Grand piano" if you asking me ...

THE BEST piano of all pianos in the WORLD for this price and any price or any platform is this :
http://www.irishacts.com/?download=piano-evolution

Steinway Bright

Memory lite, BRIGHT, transparent, strong! Do not need better piano for the rest of my life. That's what is needed.

My 15 euros :D about pianos :) Thanks Sharp for this sample, a life saver.

The best very cheap Grand Steinway is the original 2001 free Steinway samples by University of Iowa that all around
network Steinway pianos for samplers were made of .
The actual sampling procedure of a grand piano plus sound development cost exceeds 30K $ , if you can get the point here !
As I wrote before , a real grand piano for PaSeries under 500 Mb can be made only with sample modeling , only Kronos
can provide the streaming feature of a real 5 Gb Grand piano !
Pianists know better what I'm talking about !

Nobody still didn't answer if the program and/or multisample from pa3x is already included on pa4x. If the multisample exists, then you can load the pa3x's program I guess...try it even if the multisamples are different just to see if it suits your taste.

I was thinking about resampling my Ivory many years now,i knew it's difficult cause I will lose most of it ,but now that pa4x has already some piano noises and sustained sounds,so maybe I will do it and let you know....Generally,another piano I also remember I liked a lot was a Steinway D, D529? I don't remember quite well.....that was a really nice soundfont....but I can try with coakleys pianos and see if it turns any good...till now I am busy with other stuff,Anthony's pianos are Great sounding I can tell,i think the closest to an Ivory piano!!!!

You could try the free University of Iowa Steinways developed by Antony and modified by myself (also includes Korg Grand Touch piano released for the Pa1x) here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4_6p- ... sp=sharing
All up this file is about 32 mb.
This was developed for the pa3x so I'm not sure whether some of the release and pedal noised etc are mapped the same on the 4x.

If you don't mind attaching an iPad or iPhone to your Keyboard there are some new and free pianos available here:
https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/
I recommend the Sal-Stein-Uprights-UltraCompact (645 mb).

As a final suggestion has anyone tried adjusting the Oscillator EQs for the stock piano - maybe dropping some of the mid-lows and boosting the highs.

Check out here if you want some advise on making a dark piano sound a little brighter

I think the pa4x really shines when it comes to edditing your sounds
