Dear Friends DON etc, The KB is awesome and i realy like to perform whit it, So, It,s not the general things like Style playing Sound playing or so, It,s when you digg in to Sample mode, Sound mode, Slicing, and more,

If you just play some midi files it,s OK,

But!!! There is many buggs that members of this forum told about, So I , like all of you hope for a OS update soon.
Take care, And My Best Reg, ASENA

I am also strongly waiting for updates, especially for better supporting of SSD disk. Sometime it is NOT recognizing it or just recognizing it as an USB sticks.

Let's hope first they will fix that ugly Standard kit GM ,cause it has nothing to do with the old one,and all users styles have to remap again to Standard kit 1 ,that seems to combine best of both old ones I guess....

Hi,

I got my PA4X-76 "Musikant" in May 2016. Before I switched it on I opened it and replaced the internal HD by a SSD ( 480 GB ).

I never had any problems with it so far ( crossing fingers now :D )

Does it boot faster? As far a HD vs SDD, the computer is going to see them as the same. I use SSDs all the time. So far I haven't had any problems. SSDs have come a long way. I think they are at least as reliable as HDs are ... maybe better. There may be an issue with the need of trimming. I don't know if Korg has included it as a part of the OS. Hard drives get their data scattered all over the disk (random access) which is why they have defragment routines. They are not really needed. But SSD's don't release data the same as HD's. You could end up with a drive with no place to write new data, which is the reason for the trimming routine. You can look it up on the internet if you have more questions.

Hope this helps.

Can you please specify the exact model and brand of your SSD disk?
Maybe this is the issue?

Pa4x HD do not include either any system files nor factory/custom PCM so by definition do not participate at booting
procedure or in any system operation and its role is strictly as a media storage device that works with USB2 speed
protocol just like a fast external USB stick or mSD , so do not waste your money investing on it !

Hope this helps

Sure I can ;)

It´s an "OCZ Trion 150" SSD 480GB, 2.5"

Hm,

did it never happen to you that during a gig a guest "touched" your keyboard a little bit harder ?
Or during transport the streets / stairs etc. were a little bit more "rough"?
Due to absolutely no moving parts in it a SSD can´tbe disrupted. And it´s absolutely silent.

Of yourse it´s not faster tha a hdd anyway due to the used interface in PA4X.

Regarding cost´s : In May 2016 I paid 110 € for it ...

Nowadays a 240 GB SSD is 81 €...

I think mine's (factory HD ) is 1Tb.....I don't think I would need more space after all or any reason for switching to an SSD,since the only need for that would be if you move around the keyboard while it is operating and loading....or else no need. The only thing that would make sense for switching to SSD is in case (and I believe it's true) there is delay when choosing styles from DIRECT set located on the hard drive.
I have to test it,but till now I can confirm there is a serius delay on that, but that can be solved I guess by transferring the DIRECT.SET to internal 1GB area, which also can be replaced by opening the small plastic cover next to video out at the back of the keyboard

The internal 1GB "disk" is NOT mounted on the back micro SD card slot (which is empty by default) and can't be changed/upgraded.
You can install a micro SD on the rear though instead of the HDD to have more space (it accepts 2 partitions too in case you need it (v1.2.4 don't know for the others))!

you misunderstood my post....
My Hard Drive is 1TB ,the internal 1GB is a micro cd card as you mentioned.
What I said is that if DIRECT.SET is located in 1TB hard drive,it really has some delay while changing styles(haven't tried it with songbook though, but I believe it will have delay too ),
but that might be solved by moving the DIRECT.SET to the SD area(1Gb) instead of installing an SSD drive.(Haven't tried yet if there is still delay that way too ).
So,if someone tries that,it is also recomented to use a larger SDcard too...

Hello korg1!
No problem here just wanted to clear it up as you wrote "internal" and its true that there is a partition named "KORG DISK" (mounted as omega_user in the internal filesystem) which is 1GB (if i recall the size correctly))!!SD card is not internal but external storage as the user has free access to change it!!

Since the core of the PA4x probably runs on some kind of Linux variation.. what shows as disks is only there for the users..

In the end on a linux system everything is mounted somewhere on the main partition..
