GXG wrote:Hi, Rikkisbears! There is one thing I don't have when I play on stage: time. I play keyboard and vocal at the same time, let's say like one man band. I used my Pa3X by sending midi messages from Ipad. When I select the desired lyrics, the Ipad changes the Songbook entry. I know that you can reselect the style but what will happen if, for example, you changed in the meantime the tempo of that Style, that you know you have saved for particular song to a certain Tempo? I often use same style for different songs stored in songbook, with different Keyboard Sets, Pads, Transposition, Tempo etc. For users like me, it's almost impossible without Songbook. Fixing Songook must be a priority, before implementing the missing features. When I took Pa5X, I assumed that Songbook does it's job, like it is written in the User Manual... It's not a joke, this is my job and it's not pleasant to have a faulty keyboard in front of 100+ dancers... not to mention the amount of money... huge dissapointment. I advise all the ones who want to buy Pa5X to read carefully all they can get on the internet about all the errors. If I knew Songbook isn't working, I wouldn't have bought Pa5. But it's not to late to give it back to the seller, I have 2 years warranty, although all the keyboards are software damaged by default.

I have same problem like you.please fix it and finish this nightmare.

I don't play keyboard for a living. I just play for fun. But it seems to me that if I did play for a living (which I did at one time using another instrument), I would hang on to whatever keyboard I was using previously until I was sure the 5x would do the job properly. If I found it couldn't, I would use my previous keyboard. If Korg flatly refused to fix whatever problems I was having in what I considered a reasonable time frame, I would sell it. Problem solved.

Hi Bill, I ‘ve never been a performer, but if my living depended on it, I wouldn’t take the risk of replacing without some sort of back up plan.
I remember I was so excited when the Pa4x came out. I was not so happy when all my user style conversions from pa3x didn’t play back correctly. Pa4x was sending out incorrect programs changes. Had to alter all my styles.
Unfortunately, brand new keyboards usually arrive with some sort of bugs in the system. There were quite a few complaints about Pa4x also.

Yes, Rikki I think you are right. For whatever reason, companies tend to release a product perhaps before it should be. Are they hoping the end users will do some of the testing for them? Perhaps. But early adopters have to be aware of this possibility before purchasing. As I mentioned, when I did play for a living some years ago, I always had a backup plan. Having said all of this, the frustration of some of the users here is understandable.

Hi Bill, I think some bugs just slip past them . Band in a box has extensive testing by beta testers before release , bugs still get thru . Usually updates starting a couple of days later. Haha.
This songbook bug should have been fixed in the December update. For myself I’ve found a way around it, but, for performance , not suitable.

One solution would be to owerwrite the first Style Element (usually Intro1) with the style element that you start with (let's say copy Variation1 to Intro1), in order to sound the proper tones and expression values after you just selected Songbook, to have time to reselect the Style from original path, if you didn't tweaked the style's let's say Tempo in the meantime.... Why this curse? I bought Pa5 in order to be an upgrade, not to try to solve the problems of the programmers of this keyboard. Anothe cute thing is that if you change a letter from the name of the Style linked in Songbook, you loose the songbook entry. Didn't try what happens if you have the same style with the same name in 2 different banks, if Songbook knows who to load... I'm lucky that I'm only 40 years old, if I were older, this keyboard was long gone from my house for my own sanity

that you start with (let's say copy Variation1 to Intro1)
Whatever you copy in END1/INTRO1 with one chord variation (CV1 only) you get the same non transpose result
so don't waste your time , even if you create it from scratch CV1 must be recorded for major and CV2 for minor
and create tables per track , reverse creation will result the same all time major recognition ...

Pa5X works as a file explorer for first time in PaSeries and names are registered in Songbook not element positions
for Styles/Pad/Keyboard Set , file explorer is searching for name and not positions any more , so if you change anything
in element's name you will lost link with it , this is the only valid thing there.
The only common with Pa5X and PaSeries , is SOUND positions although you can also see there alphabetical order ...
Hope this helps

It will be heaven on earth if User Styles use the link with User Sound via name, not by position, meaning you don't have to reassign user tones in user styles after merging from several KST's. That would be indeed a revolution in Korg Pa, would spare somenone like me 70% of the work I actually do, writting on paper User sound names and position for User styles before loading, the work of an old chineese in 2023... That's the kind of upgrade we expect from Pa flagship in 2023, not broken OS after 1 year and a half after the release. I will use every corner of the internet to blame Korg for the poisoned gift they offered us so far. I'l try to contact Luciano Minetti, the product manager of Pa5, I encourage all of you to do the same. This is his email that I found so far,
lucianominetti@icloud.com, from this page

I was clear , SOUND 6 User Banks and 3 DK banks are still working with positions , you can see it in SOUND edit when you
try to copy a sound position , that's the only that can't be changed since a SOUND also has the MS ID of custom samples.
Merging two KST sets that own the same sound banks will be always impossible without manual arrangement or a complex
automation utility like Pa Manager that Pa5X should had by default.

I know, Antony, that User and DK Sound Banks are working with positions, only dreaming "what if". I think that 100% of Pa users agree that Pa series, at least flagship, should have a kind of automation inside the unit or computer software for merging sets with samples, where User Sound position overlap in User Sound Banks. Instead of this, I struggle to find a way to use my broken user styles through a broken Songbook, without being ashamed in front of the audience, after I payed 4500 euros... That seems to be Korg Italy new model of rewarding customers. Korg, fix that Songbook!
