Wavesart appears to be an excellent company. Although, I am able to convert pa1000 and Musikant add-on, find it to be ok but nothing like the Factory Pa5x factory styles. There is so much improvement over the quality. But to an audience, some of the older model conversions may suffice. Looking forward to future styles on pa5x exclusive.AntonySharmman wrote:Absolutely truth ...Bachus wrote:
As long as you use onboard stuff, there is almost no problems at all..
The crashes seem to come from user created things ...
Everything that has been created inside Pa5X have not the slightest issue !
WavesArt has created very sophisticated sound libraries inside Pa5X that all are working like a charm in any home or live condition.
Pa5X is not ready yet to accept custom resources from Pa4X and older migrated in it custom resources , there are many
unidentified source codes and values and missing or corrupted samples of those resources in older PRF/STY that are not
translated correctly in Pa5X new OS and in certain cases of wrong code leads to CPU infinity loop that leads to freeze or
system restart , it's crystal clear ...
Therefore if you're a gigging Musician with older Pa4X custom resources and intent to migrate them in Pa5X ...
then stay in your working Pa4X with them until new OSs releases that maybe will fix the existing issues in older SETs.
If you're a new PaSeries user , then Pa5X is your best choice and the best sounding arranger.

I sold my Pa5x 2 weeks a go, it is not stable! Many bugs, Wait until the beginning of next year or maybe before, Korg will release a stable version of Pa5x. I am lucky that I didn't sell my Pa4x!.

Pa4X, Pa 1000, Pa3x, Pa800, Pa80, i3
Had my pa5x for a couple months no major issues. The sounds are extraordinary. I never considered a Pa4x over my PA3x. Korg PaManager was a great software to add the non compatibility PA3x styles that were on the 4x.
I also purchased the pa1000 when it came out at half the cost and it is a winner too.
I changed the rubber contacts on my keybed of the PA3x. They wear over time. Even replaced some of the switches. You will find that same wear on the Pa4x over time. Then eventually, parts will become hard to find as they became on the PA3x. I may sell the PA3x to a rightful owner whom wants a refurbished model. Time will tell.
I report any issues as they rise on pa5x to KorgUS. I never had an issue with Korg support, always responsive.
If not happy with Korg, there are other choices. But I will stay with my pa5x…

4x to 5x
Hi.
Just found this thread re the 5x etc.
I have had a 4x since they were released, updated it when made available. For my use it remains a solid, great sounding Keyboard.
But my father purchased the 5x upon release. And I have got to use and experience that 5x weekly.
From my usage todate, I chose to stick with my 4x and hope that Korg release firmware updates to solve all sorts of issues.
They did indeed release quite a big update, not long after launch. And it appeared that they actually rushed the launch.
The Online Manual was a mess.
I understand that this July August, Korg will release a large update revision to the Pa5X firmware. Maybe big enough to call it V 2.0. Watch that space guys, because it looks like Korg will finally get a grip with the 5x and will solve so many issues that users have had.
Not sure about the average view, but one thing I think they made a mistake with the 5x, was increasing the weight of the key action. I know of a couple of elderly users who found that the increased effort to press the keys is giving them real issues with the hands and thats using the 76 note variant.
Indeed, one elderly user has chosen to re-spring his 5x, to give it an action inline with the Yamaha Genos feel. I have tried this 5x and it is so much nicer to play. Personal opinion of course.
Another more subtle change Korg made with the 5x, relative to the 4x and Pa1000 etc, is how we store user styles, and user sounds. In that they now have made filing these things Alphanumerical, and you can no longer pick where you wish to save them within folders. As in what page. And the order of the folders on screen. Its enough of a change to confuse some previous Korg Pa Users
So my suggestion. Hang fire just a tad longer if your on the fence re the 5x. See what this pending firmware update changes, potentially by the close of July.
Has anyone by the way found that when using Ensemble, particularly with drawbars, so like Lowreys AOC, that it glitches in that you can end up with a monophonic non chorded note on the upper? I am hoping Korg will address this with the pending update.
