I say that's a good call and if you get bored of them ever they have a lot more uses then grooveboxes.

midi ;)

put midi+programming together you can recreate them within ableton live which is something I've done before, to an extent, and then extend them....

Hey Ruso,
This is a quote from a real old post... but now that I have both the Triton Le and EMX I need to get that midi connection problem fixed.
Any suggestions?
Paul
Ruso wrote:totally different game.... electribes are grooveboxes, they're sequencers which work splendidly for live performances... they are designed for fast sequencing, on the go sound mangling real time...

both have their advantages... one thing I gotta say is that using them together with ableton live is awesome.....

if the triton supports multi tiembre patches which I'm sure it does... and it also supports each one of those tiembres to be assigned to its own midi channel I would HIGHLY advice getting an emx, and using it to sequence the triton's synthesis engine.... together they'd probably make a top knotch combo....

the ESX is harder to get used to but it has a LOT more sound mangling possibilities, also you can create the most drastic sound mangling....

also you will not be limited of the synth engine, you can for instance record samples of other instruments and record them into the esx and use them as the keyboard parts is you so choose to...

hope that helps if you want I can follow up and extend my reply more when I have time I have an appointment really soon...

obviously i'm a little late here ..

but my two cents is that I would have gone for the radias, thought about upgrading the Le to a micro x / x50 and looked at a couple of controllers for live, along with a drum pad controller.

Paul, take it from me,upgrade the tubes! To put it one way,the tubes don't do it any favours, they only hurt it imo.New tubes, new machine

Hi Ruso,

Why can you mangle the sounds more in the ESX? They seem to have similar fx & filters etc..

I dont use mine as much as I should perhaps.. (i have emx & esx)

late to the game here. if i had my druthers. i would have gotten the esx. but my wife bought it for me for my birthday so there is no way t take it back.
dont bother with getting the emx and the esx. seriously. dont buy any high end synths. spend your money on soft snths and buy a cheaper controller. since you got live 6. a controller, live 6, and an esx would be a badasss set up. i had a triton pro once. i liked it and all but it was a clumsy device. my advice for you is sell that puppy to someone who doesnt have anything so they can learn how to sequence the ole skool way. and if you are gonna get a NI snth. dont get absynth. get either reaktor or massive those are FARRRRR superior snths!!!! seriously the Radias is a gimmick and there is farrrrrrr FARRRR FARRRR superior software snths that devastate the Radias. the only hardware snth i have is a jp8000 but come on that guy is legendary! SUPER SAWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

i dont think u can speak for everyone there mate .

elements i demand from gear : upfront/vibrant sounds , ease of use , depth ( and i KNOW the mx has plenty) , innovative control ., good sequencing ... unless u REALLY know ur mx i suggest u dont tell others not to bother . I wouldnt buyan esx , but i hav a sampler .

Man , ive been makin tunes for bout 9-10 years and packed in software about 3 years ago , we all hav different needs .
L8tly ive been making stuff from emx1 that sound very like a nu-metal band ... and it comes together without any frustration . Have u got new tubes yet ??? lol , try dissing the mx once u hav

sure you r gear is good , but how far do u push the engine that runs it ?
All im sayin is that for a time period i began loosing interest in my mx ... then i re-tubed it and all of a sudden a load of new doors opened and i'll Never stop using it for something . Learn it !!

What tubes Reddone? I'd better get mine, hearing a lot about them.

Are the Gt Ecc83's the ones?

Thanks for the advice, one of my firends have sold their EMX and bought NI's suite (inc Massive - Which is phat btw). This just made me want to get the more out of my EMX & ESX. I know its capable of lots if used correctly.

I don't doubt the soft synths abilities, but I prefer touching my Electribes, I can sit there with them all day (as I have today), I just cant do that with a mouse and a cheap controller staring at a computer screen.

But soft synths def have a place in my setup (exp Massive). True the Tribes are a bit cumbersome to program, but im sure that goes away with time and your working method eventually speeds up and flows more.

There's something about the vibe I get from certain hardware. Like the Tribes.

We can call it the "Tribe Vibe" if you like... lol

when it comeews to tubes , personally i have the GrooveTubes ecc83s ones as i may be mentioned . To be honest whne i got them they instantly beat my expectations on what i expected .

There are other ones out there that give a really "clean" sound so i hear , but really the groove tubes give such a nice fizzle at around half way and never becomes any kinda problem even at full whack ... so if u still want to get a "buzz" outta ur mx without the dense plastic sound of the originals id recommend GT-Ecc83s as a very nice option.

Musicmachine even nearly sold his mx until upgrading to groove tubes , now he wouldnt be without his box

dont get my wrong i love my tribe and all. but they are very limited in the modulation department compared to say what massive or reaktor are capable of.

as far as the sequencing is concerned ...yeah its easy and hands on but also very limited. no polyphony hurts it big time. and the fact i can't program past 16th without rolls kinda sucks. not to mention i can't use 2 different types of rolls in a sequence. if i was just making 4 on the floor then s**t an esx and an emx would be all i need. but i have more complicated needs and the electribe alone is not enough. another goody which is porbably like blasphemy here is the mc909. i love having that, my emx, my jp, and my laptop all going at once. talk about pure awesome!!!!

yeh i hear u aizo , for some things it is no doubt very nice to hav all that sweet gear , but really for a newbie an mx is a great way to develop and eventually really push the box .

I gotta say i was dissapointed u never got ur second entry into the compo , ur first tune really impressed me in production technique .

On the roll thing , yeah up-ing the resolution should help a fair bit .
