Pepe,

The compatibility issues with Korg are the same as with Yamaha and others. The new machines all have backward compatibility with styles etc made on older machines. We cannot expect older machines to have compatibility with some new hardware that did not exist at the time the older machines were designed.

Style's compatibility

Post by umanid »

Hi friends,

I have gone through this thread and have concluded that Pa800 styles are not completely compatible with Pa1x, unless some adjustments are made to these styles. That is acknowledged. But one thing that Im a bit confused about is that are the Pa1x styles completely compatible with Pa800? Talking about the Bonusware section of the Korg's website, defined there is the style format & its compatibility. the Pa1x styles are not compatible with Pa50, Pa60 & Pa80. What I'd like to know is that whether the styles posted under the section of Pa1x are completely compatible with Pa800 and will work fine if downloaded from this section and loaded on the Pa800? I did read the thread which states that the newer models are compatible with the older ones, however the older ones are not.

Any help will be much appreciated.

umanid,

Korg say the Pa1x User Styles are compatible with the Pa800. But User Styles that use User Sounds will not work on the Pa800 unless the Sounds and Samples from the Pa1x have been saved into the same .SET file that contains the Styles.

What I'm not sure about is whether such User Sounds and User Samples from the Pa1x are compatible with the Pa800. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can comment?

Also Styles from the Pa800 can be loaded into the Pa1x, but the patch numbers have to be edited manually to convert from Pa800 patch numbers to the equivalent patch numbers for the Pa1x.

And, whenever loading a .SET file from another keyboard, always check that there is no SONGBOOK or GLOBAL folder that has been saved by accident into the .SET file. If it is present, then delete it before you Load the .SET file. Otherwise memory corruption can occur.

Best regards,
Rob

Styles compatibility

Post by umanid »

Thanx for the reply Rob.

Well, I do understand tht styles containing user samples n sounds will not work on the Pa800 unless these samples n sounds r also loaded with the styles. But YES, there is this fear of corrupting something on the board if loaded with such stuff. Have ample of threads n posts on the forum to confirm tht I guess. But for now, I'll just stick to the styles which don't require user souns n samples until the next OS from Korg.

Regards,
Umanid
