The new operating systems for Pa2X and Pa800 are on the way. I cannot tell you a date, but everything is in the final testing phase.

Best regards,

Hi Paolo,

Thank you. This is indeed good news. In the meantime before the new OS is released, please could you tell us the following? This will hopefully allow people to continue using their keyboards for now ...

a) What are the failure modes that the new OS will fix? (eg loading USER SAMPLES)

b) Before the OS is ready, how can users avoid doing anything to their Pa800 or Pa2x to cause the failure? (For example, do not load or create any USER SAMPLES at the moment, wait until the new OS is released?)

Paolo: THX, your words of assurance will certainly calm the situation and lessens our anxieties.

On a different note, my KB has exact same malfunction as previously. I have called the Korg USA and waiting for someone to call me back as what to do with this totally non-functional KB.

Rob: THX for asking proper and technical questions.

Asena: I am glad you find humor in these serious dialogues.

Hi Rob,
a) What are the failure modes that the new OS will fix? (eg loading USER SAMPLES)
Freezing on boot-up, after having loaded and edited samples, will be solved in Pa2X.
b) Before the OS is ready, how can users avoid doing anything to their Pa800 or Pa2x to cause the failure?
There is not a precise path to reproduce the issue. The more you use the Sampling functions, the more memory gets fragmented, and the easier it is the problem will surface.

So, no problem might even surface when using samples, but heavy use of editing functions could cause the freeze.

Dear mr. Trammanoni,

Like I described in this subject, I've had several moments, when my PA2Xpro froze on stage, just when playing styles, not one pcm-sample loaded.
There are many more PA2 users with this problem, on this and other forums.

"can you imagine how it would be, after pressing fill 2, there no way to get back in variation....so the fill keeps on repeating, untill I pressed STOP.
And ended the song right in the middle................................................
I had this three times while playing at a party. (And no, I did not press the fill button twice to have it repeated intentionally)
This was a total emberrassment. I would expect such bugs at a Ketron, not at a Korg!"

I would like to know if these problems are also noticed when writing the OS-update.

Besides that, (for me most) important guitar multisamples have been changed.
Is there a change the multisamples 189,190,191,192 of PA1X get back in a new resource file?

If not, I'm sure i'm gonna sell the PA2.

Cause when I buy a new "professional" arranger: Euro 2900,- ,
I want one

(me, playing KORG since 1988........)

Mr. Tramannoni you said that "The more you use the Sampling functions, the more memory gets fragmented, and the easier it is the problem will surface." Did you mean that without RESTARTING the arranger the memory will get fragmented, or the more you use the sampler everyday the worse it gets? I am asking this because I create my own samples on PA800 and I am constantly adding new waves, editing them, deleting uneeded. Does this mean that because I use my Sampler a lot it will get damaged??? It may seem a funy question but there are musicinas like me that loaded hundreds of sample SETs to export the best samples out, and then modify them directly on PA800.

Pa800 Dude,

The problem is "cumulative", i.e., the more you use sampling functions, the more it can happen. But no physical damage can be caused to the instrument by the sampling issue.

A temporary solution is to format the SSD often, but my hint is to wait for the new OS.

Paolo
