Nikola,

I see that apart from the name.kmp and name folder, I also have the name.KSC file. How do I proceed in that case? :( Sorry, I guess I am asking too many questions.

That is even better. Then just load .ksc file. Ksc file is actually Korg script file that loads more than one sample and it loads them on their appropriate places.
To try and explain: You have internal so called multisamples you use to make programs (set the pitch, envelopes, fx... and save them as programs), but you also can load multisamples that are stored in the RAM and you need to load them every time you turn on the TR. Program settings are stored in .pcg file and samples are stored in a separate folder. Ksc file tells where to load each sample for the programs to sound correctly.
Backup your data and have fun. (That's the easiest way to learn)

Thanks Nikola. "Back up your data" sounded like a warning :(

I have now the samples in an SD card. What do you want me to do before I plug in the card after turning on the TR? I mean wrt backing up the data.

Well if you did some programing and changing the sounds you can save your settings just in case. (Go to media mode, press f2 save tab, and f8, go to save all). Everything you do on the keyboard stays in the internal memory but again just in case. If you haven't change factory sounds then you don't have to backup.

I tried loading the sample. I inserted the SD card after turning on the TR, went to MEDIA, took one KSC file, pressed f8. It gave me a memory overflow error. :(

Oh, i see. Well the thing is that you probably don't have enough RAM memory installed. The TR puts the new samples into a RAM memory. On a startup screen on the bottom you can see how much ram you have installed. You can find information on this forum where to buy RAM. You probably have 16 Mb now and you could try to load a sample at the time. Just open the folder name and load kmp files, that way you can load and organize your own set of samples.

You can start from d127 that is an init program. Or you can just edit a preset sound. After editing press f8 write program and there you can chose where you want to save it. Unfortunately you will have to overwrite some other sound.

Thanks Nikola, I think you are referring to the left bottom corner where it's mentioned SIMM slot 1 and SIMM slot 2. I see both are empty. :(. GOing by what you said, if I load only one KMP at a time (I have quite a few in the SD card), won't it require any RAM?

Just to add one more point Nikola, I bought this TR 76 recently from a local KORG retailer. Are the SIMM slots supposed to be empty initially, I mean are you supposed to buy memory separately? :(

What you desrcirbed is Note-off MIDI message. Aftertouch is when you hold a key and apply pressure to it, press the key down with your finger. Some synth parameters might be assinged to AT, for example vibrato, filter, volume. If it's a vibrato, when you hold a key and then press it down more, you hear more vibrato etc.

It depends on how patch is programmed. It might be vibrato, filter cut/resonance, volume swell, pitch etc.
