A touchpad could easily be added by making the sample pads just a bit smaller. No touchpad, no sale

Things I would like to see...

1) Definitely a USB interface

2) SD Memory or *gasp* solid state hard disk or laptop hard disk. I know, keep dreaming.

3) All "Parts" assignable, depending on how you want to use them. Selectable in the Part Menu. (hit Part1, select One Shot Sample, Stretch Sample, Slice Sample, Synth, Rom... whatever)

4) Definitely more outputs!

5) Continuous Rotary Knobs with... LED indicators that show the Part's knob position when you switch to a different Part!!! (think Behringer's BCR2000 controller. Just with MUCH smaller LED rings) Another option would be touch sensitive knobs that would bring up a knob position icon on the screen, just something small in the corner that would indicate the knobs position. Hmmm.

6) New effects section entirely... actually, I don't really care, but it definitely needs a send level knob. Gah that function alone is worth an extra 100 bucks to me.

7) Loading lower quality samples would be nice too.

And Im sure I could think up tons of extra stuff. Like realtime loop point modulation. ADSR for synths, velocity sensitive pads... Its been a few years and the tech curve hasn't slowed, so lets see some innovations

Bottom line... I HOPE they come out with something new. I hate playing out on a laptop. Electribes work when you need them to. Unlike my craptop... but thats another story.

an added synth part would be nice then just move the small accent part of the drum part up to give space for the synth accent below it so save space

a lot of the juicy features have been mentioned.

Personally i would like to see a more open design, without specific drum or synth parts. I think something like 12 channels, all of which can freely be assigned to synth, sample, or drum part would be rad.

im my opinion that is the ugliest thing i have ever seen.

pad control pads rather than the little drum buttons.. the 16 steps can stay small but beef up the drum/synth parts..

i would take that over all the crazy motion controls and all the wild settings i never use ( know you guys do though) i wish the esx was a little MORE dedicated to samples and drumming and maybe the emx a little MORE dedicated towards synth and effects.. like have more key like pads or keys in general on the emx.. dont take the drums away all together but make the drum stuff better on the esx.. its already kinda like that but but could be done better..

i would want a love child of a sp 404 (memory and simple effects) an esx ( i prefer step editing stuff and laying stuff out by eye rather than 100% by ear) and the pad control (for the pads and a more "drum machine" pad layout) why not get an mpc? because it would be overdone and confusing.. i want a simple yet beefier esx

My goal was not to create a superb design, I just wanted to brainstorm about a new Electribe:
Which features, what would be handy, how should the user interface be - which place should a function have on the hardware (NOT the design, just the user interface so we wouldn't add features that would be impossible to implement in the actual hardware).

I'm not a graphic artist, and again as I said I didn't spend many time on 'making it very good looking' (I used a few designs of other Korg products as guide instead of making something completely new).
Many users allready added useful comments and they where all thinking about new features and functions which I appreciate a lot (thank you, all !).
FreshHorses also mentioned his thoughts about the design, but he added what would be handy and useful (nice thinking btw, it opens a lot of possibilities).

Please go ahead an make a new design of this Electribe wich is better and has all the new feautures mentioned and add that to this thread, it would be much more friendly and useful.

One thing I'd like re the sampler is the ability to sample not just drum hits, but phrases of several bars' length. That way you could fade one loop/track into the next, layer multiple loops, remix on the fly, etc. (This is what I try to use the Kaoss Pad 3's sampler for, but MIDI sync issues get in the way.)

the ESX can actually have samples of a loops and not just drum hits. even the ES1 can do that

the ESX can actually have samples of a loops and not just drum hits. even the ES1 can do that

look up resampling in your manual, it only takes a second

that will be nice have 2 more synth parts
