Is it time for a "what's your age"-poll?..

Or is that just plain rude?..

I believe he was just speaking of Youths in general. As I also was.

Yes, it is ironic. I believe it is but one facet of the "instant gratification" behavior that has gripped many people today.

Specifically, why pick up a phone book size manual when you can just post a question in a forum and have the answer spoon fed to you? Talk about irony! They have to read the answer, don't they?

My guess is that many of the people who adopt that approach either have poor reading / learning skills, or feel that their time is too precious to spend reading the manual or using the search function.
There's another reason for not sitting down to read the Parameter guide, & learning the instrument inside-out -- in my case, I just don't have the time to do it. I really would be happy being locked in a room for two weeks with nothing but my Oasys & the manuals, so that I could learn to use it to its full capabilities.

But I have depressingly little spare time. I get maybe 2 hours of quality time with my Oasys every week, and I choose to focus most of that on playing, and some basic sequencing.

Did it make sense for me to buy an instrument like that if I don't really have the time to fully appreciate it? Well, I *do* really appreciate it, when I play it, and I hope that some day I'll actually have the time to learn more of its capabilities...

Very true, it is fun and constructive to work SOME things through with other users.

I have a little rule ... the more powerful a synthesizer the less likely you are to find anyone talking about the subject of synthesis. There's another powerful synth I own (non-Korg), another sound design heaven, and I find that folks in that forum very rarely talk about it capabilities or even seem to be exploring them.

Just one of those things ...
