So - Korgs "secrecy policy" striked again.

I'm very happy they continue developing stuff for our baby. 8) But I wouldn't mind a change in their secrecy policy. I cannot see any harm for them if they announce "There will be another Oasys update in 2009". I'm tired of all these discussions about "Oasys discontinued" etc. and it's definetly not necessary when they know already they are going to release something sooner or later. I'd rather have a look at all the "speculating threads" what the update will be about - that's more fun!

Has anyone installed already 1.3.3 and is everything working as it's supposed to be?

@curvebender: I don't know if it's still true for 1.3.X but I remember an update for which Korg recommended to use the boot-from-disc-install instead of going via the update-menu in global. Since then I ALWAYS installed using this method and never had any troubles. 8)

Charlie,

I turned off the Oasys, turned it on back again, and the display said "1.3.3" despite the error message.

Now, do you think it's harmful if I tried to install 1.3.3 from CD once again, even if the screen says it's 1.3.3 already?..

Hm - I'm not an expert. I would check it out first wether it works or not. If it does not work properly I'd ask Korg support before installing a second time via boot-CD. I don't think it would do any harm to install it a 2nd time - but I prefer being on the safe(r) side.

Hi,

thanx Korg :-) Happy that Korg updated the big oasys!

Gives there a preset EFX list?

One I don`t understand.............. Why Korg are not create some sounds for us with the new EFX`s????

I`am not shure about that Dan, Jerry and Co now`s, that we are happy users and the most of us are no sound designers :!:

M3 Update have a lot of new programs and combis but we only have new FX features! Thats fine, but I wish also new sounds

Jordan speak to us into another thread, that he create some new sounds and maybe Korg can release this sound set

cheers,

Those of you who have already installed this package, please comment on any issues regarding the upgrade process and/or problems. I'd like to wait a few days before I install mine.

Updated as explained in the updater guide and no problems. I played today for a few hours with combis, progs and sequencer. No crashes.

Really nice presets, thanks again 8)

To ALL those involved with providing this update to Oasys owners, I offer my sincere Thank You! :D

I am probably just inviting the Flames but:
To ALL Oasys owners that appear not to appreciate this update and continue to want to complain because this or that was not included, what are you Thinking?... :?

No one knows (except Korg and those privy to such info) but this just may be a pre-rec for upcoming improvements and New features which we will receive when we receive them.

It would appear that History has shown that is how it works and no matter how much any body complains it is not going to change a thing. I really am getting tired of seeing all the complaints on this forum and on Karma-labs forum. Yes I don't have to view threads that are posted as a complaint but it seems like no matter which thread you view, someone is bitching about not getting updates.

Put yourself in Korgs shoes for just one moment. How would you keep a positive, creative, and energetic attitude when seems like you are damned if you do or damned if you don't? Let's cut them some slack and be appreciative of what we have received.

In the mean time, go play and enjoy your 'O' :)

Please understand, I mean no disrespect to anyone, I just needed to state my personal feelings.

Best Regards,
Rick

Thanks Korg 8)

A very useful update that fixes a bunch of things and provides some very handy FX presets. It all helps to make the music making process a little smoother, which is golden for me ;-)

I got this message after trying to update from the Global menu...

Should I turn it off and try the other method?
Yes, go ahead and try the other method. At the very least, I doubt it would do any harm.

Hello Brandon,

So I should do this despite the fact that the Oasys showed "1.3.3" when I turned it on after the failed update?..

Good point, Rick....

'cept you forgot something... WE are the consumer. Far be it from me to be ungreatful....but I have always thought that sounds, sounds, SOUNDS are what we are looking for most of all!!

Put ourselves in Korgs shoes? Hell no! They didn't pay me $8500.00 for my Oasys. I paid THEM! Get it? It is THEIR responsiblity to support US--not the other way around. If they had asked for another thousand bucks for more sounds at the beginning to curb my bitching later down the road then I would have paid the money! AND paid without complaint. BUT I WANT MORE NOISES FOR MY OASYS and I don't have the dayamn time or desire to make them myself. And don't tell me to go pay Irish Acts for their sounds.

And to requote you: "No one knows (except Korg and those privy to such info) but this just may be a pre-rec for upcoming improvements and New features which we will receive when we receive them." Their 'ancient chinese secret' tight lip policy is so much of what creates a lot of this hysteria. We, us Korg users just ask, "Hey, what's coming down the pike next for my $8500.00 synth?" Korg, in effect says, "We are working on something and it is a big frigging secret...and your eight-thousand dollars wasn't enough for us to share it with you...until it's released...IF it's released. So leave us alone."

So there!

Just playing the devils advocate there. I loved my Oasys when I got it and it had 1.1 on it. The second thing I thought about it was, "Not too generous in the sound department are they." Of course, my 1st thought was, "Holy bat, Crapman!! (I mean, Holy crap, Batman) This thing is AWESOME!!"

Just to rub it in one more time. To the guys that developed the Oasys, I was always only REALLY looking forward to more MORE MORE sounds. That's all. Like my M3.

Okay. I'm going to the corner now for my rambunctious behavior.
