The way I see this is it's KORG's problem. Nowhere does it say the M3 won't work with memory sticks larger than 4GB.

Jerry is also on holidays so don't expect an official response on the forums. You should phone KORG and tell them everything you know at this point. The only solution is likely an OS update which means this going to take time, if KORG even can or decide to fix this.

Regards
Sharp

Just to clarify, this is an issue with using USB memory sticks > 4GB in USB port 2 only. Right?

I've been using 2 different 8GB sticks for a while now with no problems. I can't say for sure I've used them in port 2 (I usually just fumble about back there till I find something that fits :D ), but I'm fairly sure I must have. I can give it a try later today.

Yes, my KorgM3 is having difficulties recognizing the 8gb on PORT#2. It is strange enough that sometimes the 8gb works on Port#2 but later it fails to be recognized on port #2.

Just to be on the safe side, I have requested a replacement for my 8gb nano stick. If the new one works then I might have a bad 8g stick.

However, I will keep you updated.

Yep, two of them, from Brando.

Item Code :UMEMO008000
Item :EagleTec USB Nano Flash Drive
Option :UMEMO008001 8GB
Qty :2

Both have 6,1g free... i'm gonna try to fill them above 4g.
Stand by...
Have filled them to about 2,1g on one and 2,8g on the second remaining, then wrote 'all' with the M3 just after, still working fine, alive and kicking :)

It is strange that PORT 2 is having problem recognizing the stick. In addition to that, KM3 will not format the STICK.

Also upgrade 2.04 in place?
As i know this fix the osx problem concerning usb.. did they do the proper work for both ports?? i wonder... and having formatted on an osx machine what is the chance that's bringing up some issues?
Maybe it's just a defective unit (usb nano i mean.... hope for you at least...)
I'm almost sure i didn't format 'cause i have Vista and formatting with that doesn't work! and there was nothing on them when i got them.
ps the reason i've tried with filling them up is that i had a sort like issue with a mobile phone and memory... i can adress only 2g but i have 8g in it :) no problem as far as the first 2g are filled up.... don't ask, i don't see the logic in that either but... it works!).

Did you format or just plugged in?
.. and works on port#1 properly or only sometimes?
Must say, likes to me that the second port of the M3 shows some weakness (maybe the connection on the inside not delivering the proper voltage) but it maybe a wrong loaded bit in the system software... the possibilities are just a few i'm afraid.
Very disturbing...
I can only advise a clean system loading and upgrading again before you have to send it back or something drastic like that
Wish you luck

Hello AK,

At this point I would contact a Korg repair center and ask them to repair USB port 2. It seems to be a one-off fault affecting your M3. Send them the M3M only (not the keybed) and also send them all the USB sticks that fail to work in port 2.

Best regards,
Rob

latest update to the USB issue..

Rob,

I tried the 1gb stick the one which came with the M3 and it worked on both ports. Km3 was not able to format the 8gb on both ports. When I tried to format the 8gb on the km3 then it did reach 99% but at 99% it gave a msg "can not access media or media failed." :x
