new copy protection

I'm kind of disappointed to see that when there's finally a software update to the Legacy products, there's no 64-bit version.
As Steinberg's VST bridge for using 32-bit VSTi's in Cubase (Studio) 5 64-bit do not work at all - and mind you, I don't blame this on any other than Steinberg themselves, it would indeed be great to see 64-bit versions of such great software, especially since the world of computing has been in a 64-bit environment for a few years now.
I put the blame entirely on Steinberg, but I can't use 32-bits VSTi's in Cubase 64-bit (yeah granted there's Jbridge that will do, but that's beside the point; why use 32-bit plugins when everything on your DAW is 64-bit?)

Hi Mark
We try to help users where we can and going by the amount of times I have had conversations with users who say the support from Steinberg is non existant... I personally am glad I dont need to have to go throught the elicensing process for myself and to assist other users now and, I dread hearing the stories of how much of a nightmare things are going to be from next year.

You must know what question I'm about to ask now?
Do you have any idea what nightmares we might have in store next year as Steinberg/eLicencer users?
Yours terrified,
Mark

Well from experience I get a lot of calls from users who through working things through with me, realise their issue is a Steinberg (say Cubase) issue. The biggest gripe is trying to get someone to answer the phone or even provide an answer for them and when they dont get a response, this brings back sad stories of dissapointed users letting me know they dont get the support from them that they think they deserve. After all they have paid money for a legit copy, why shouldn't they expect decent support?
Hopefully this will change but i'm not that confident.

I would suggest the following course of action right now:
1) Download the most current USB Key versions of the Korg products, KLC-AE2007 1.2.3 and KLC-DE 1.3.2
2) At the eLicenser website, download BOTH the most current Syncrosoft LCC app (v5.4.20.0) and the eLC app (v6.0.2.7002)
3) Burn all of the above to a CD
As long as you have an existing USB key with the Korg licenses on it and a version of the eLC or LCC that work on your current computer with the current OS, you shouldn't necessarily worry about what Steinberg will be doing next year.
As an example, I am running Windows XP and the Syncrosoft LCC 5.4.20.0 (the most current version) and I have no trouble installing and authorizing the KLC plug-ins. There really isn't any reason for me to use the new eLC app.

I aggree with everthing you've said re Steinberg support and all that. But you've said two things:
anduktechsupport wrote: As some of you have said Syncrosoft's eLicenser copy protection section has been acquired by Steinberg and as some of you may not be aware, their system will be changing from next year.
that give the impression that Steinberg will be changing something to do with the eLicencer (USB Key) next year and that whatever that may be is not very nice. At least that's the impression you've given me.uktechsupport wrote: I dread hearing the stories of how much of a nightmare things are going to be from next year.
So, do you know if something going to change re the eLicencer?
Thanks,
Mark
f*ck*ng back to Challenge/response
Well, this is my first message to Korg:
First, you disable the challenge request for the 1.1 version, so I bought a Elicenser key, arrived today, and already installed and I bought the damn update, and know I'm reading that you are going back to the challenge request. This really sucks big time. In fact, KORG blows big time!!!!!!

I Dislike Software from witch I Do not know where my license are
This is the main reason I Only Have Dongle Protected Software
I actually see this Pretty sadly Since they are now forcing people to use there product with there new C/R System
So What If I Don't Agree with this way of protection ???
What Should I Do Then ???
I have so had it with Korg
and there attitude toward there costumers
I Actually haven't Got any response from Korg About issues that I had with there Hardware & Software
And I Know Somebody Who worked For the Support in the Benelux from Korg where they tried to help people with there problems
But if they Needed Korg to solve a problem Like a Bug in there software
They even did not get any fast response
So He quited there Because He wanted to help People And there He could not
I think Steinberg, Rob Papen & Vengeance There Support are all far Superior To that from Korg
Actually I think there is no Company I Know of that has worse support than Korg
Steinberg Changed there policies on Lost/Stolen Dongle's
Actually they are going to replace the license that were on the key for registered users (You only need to get a replacement key)
And I Think Korg does not want to give this type of support
And rather turn back to there old way of protecting there software
Witch makes me Pissed off ...
So If they want it this way ...

Get cracked version instead of Real?
I've been using version 1.1 of the analog pack with the USB controller for some years. I recently bought a Mac as well. I make music together with friends at different places.
For some stupid reason I haven't upgraded to the version with the USB-dongle protection. Is there no possibility what so ever to get this "old" upgrade with the eLicenser instead? Does anyone know?
How easy will it be when I start to switch computer VERY often. Is the best solution to upgrade and have the license on my Mac and download a cracked version and use that ILLEGAL copy on my lap top and the on the other computers? Because if I have to to a lot of things to switch computer it seems the best sulotion to go with the cracked versions instead.

Licences
Hi there
Aside from the arguments about which system of copy protection is better, I have a question about licensing.
At the moment, I have the old KLC and the DE installed and dongled, and my honest understanding is that I can install on both my iMac and macbook pro as I travel a lot. This means that as they are copy protected with the USB key, I can only use one version at a time.
With the return to challenge/response, can someone in the know please tell me if I am allowed to install on 2 computers at once - whilst only using one at a time?
As an aside, the installation from the original version to where we are today - well, 2 days ago - was less than easy but having got there, I've been happy with the standard of copy protection. However, I need to know the legal aspects of using both home and portable installations under the new system.
...and aside from the installation difficulty, I've found Mike at Korg Support UK to helpful both by phone and email.
All the best,
jj

from:Q8 Can I do license authorization for multiple computers?
A8 You can install and authorize the software on multiple computers, but you can only utilize the software on one computer at a time.

Re: f*ck*ng back to Challenge/response
I would suggest calling your Korg Country Distributor and try to get a refund. This assumes you purchased a Steinberg Key just for KLC.Argonic wrote:Well, this is my first message to Korg:

This is an idiotic post. Are you in junior high school?Argonic wrote:No worries, it will not take 3 weeks before the s**t will be cracked. That day, I will send them a mail and congratulate them for this
The newest versions of KLC support either C/R or USB Key (different downloads). There is nothing stopping you from keeping your existing licenses on your Syncrosoft key and using a current version of the Syncrosoft LCC software or eLC software.DjRavix wrote:I Dislike Software from witch I Do not know where my license are

The change only really applies to any updates Korg might make to the software after April 30, 2010.
If Korg releases a new product in 2010 and you don't "agree" with this type of protection, just don't buy it or download it.
I think you are severely limiting yourself if you ONLY use products that have dongles. This rules out all Native Instruments software and all Spectrasonics software just to name a few.
You MUST be kidding. Steinberg has some of the worst support on the planet. Just visit the Steinberg forums.DjRavix wrote: I think Steinberg, Rob Papen & Vengeance There Support are all far Superior To that from Korg

Re: Get cracked version instead of Real?
The Korg User Net Shop states "USB key copy protection versions will no longer be sold at Korg User Net Shop", so it looks like you might be out of luck.h_rogerh wrote:I've been using version 1.1 of the analog pack with the USB controller for some years.
