Interesting...
Installing step one was no problem.
Step 2 stopped with the message that the system files were already up to date.

The keyboard boots with message that 1.0.5 is in use.

I will see if I have any problems.

You shouldn't. The first step is the full OS. The second step loads the patches (I think). It sees it as already populated so it doesn't need the 2nd step. You'd get the same thing if you had try to reload 1.1.0. The first would work, the second wouldn't have.

Let us know if the problem comes back. It'll be interesting if we can prove it is the 1.1.0 update that is causing it. I have the M50-73 which came with 1.1.0 stock and I haven't had the problem.

I have not had a recurrance of the problem since I installed 1.0.5 (in place of 1.1.0). I have powered up several times (perhaps 10 times or more) in the last 2 days. Keyboard has been on from minutes to a few hours. No freeze ups so far.

Looking back.... I remember seeing a message that showed up after I upgraded to 1.1.0. During boot up, on the M50 screen, a message apeared I have never seen before. It stated to the effect that the left keyboard was initializing, then the message stated the right keyboard was initializing. I never say it before nor have I seen it since. It was after these messages (how long after I don't know) that the freeze ups started, I had 2 freeze ups in 3 days. System was in use perhaps 3 times in those 3 days.

Is there a "left and right" keyboard in the 61 key model (which I own). What would this message mean?

I had been having such a good run with 1.0.5.

Today I read on another thread that other 61 key M50 users are not having trouble with the new firmware.
So I installed 1.1.0 again today (3rd time now).
The keyboard has been on 3 times so far today.
The first two times I didn't notice a problem.

The third time, it froze up.
First the buttons (prog, Seq, Media, Global, rec/write, NONE of the buttons) wouldn't work but I could still play. I could play for a few minutes (2 maybe 3 minutes). then the keyboard froze up and only the decay of the last key it played rang out, for a long time.... continuously.

I'm putting version 1.0.5 back in.

Question is...

Why are others (with 61 key models) having no problem with 1.1.0?

Does my keyboard have some deficiency that does not allow it to operate properly with 1.1.0?

I'm wondering if it's based on the hardware. Maybe they made a slight hardware change after the initial run? Do you have an early serial number?

Serial nuber 006414. I've had it about 2 months now.

I have been told by a tech that they have seen this problem before. Capacitors dealing with the power have to be changed.

Maybe that's the problem.
I'm taking it in.

Perhaps for some reason 1.1.0 is more sensitive to voltage supply than 1.0.x, though I can't see how. But then I don't build the things, I only play one.

Thought I would report that the M50 just froze under OS version 1.0.5

That closes the issue for me. It is NOT OS related.

Here's the instructions: http://www.korg.com/uploads/Support/How ... 110000.pdf

Remember, you need to perform the upgrade twice. Please let us know if it fixes your problem.

Side note: I've not seen anyone with the M50-73 with this issue. And I'm not totally sure I've seen anyone with the M5-88 with it. Everybody I can remember has the M50-61.

I know I'm replaying to this after few years but I really need help.
My Korg m50 88 freezes during playing few times already. It never did for 5 years (!)until now... Powering off and on again sometimes helps, sometimes not. I'm looking for a solution to fix that. I never upgraded the OS because it just worked fine and I didn't need to change anything but now I need a fix. That OS upgrade link doesn't work anymore. Where can I get an upgrade?
