In the end I sold my M3 because I didn't have any justification at all in keeping it. I couldn't do any work on it because I knew the sound was inferior to the OASYS in every way, even though the M3 is a fantastic sounding keyboard. Man if feels odd trying to explain that, but I know OASYS owners will get what I mean.

I think we are all screwed at this point. If KORG bring out another keyboard it's going to have to have a sound engine as good as the OASYS or we will all think it sucks.

Wish I shared sina's enthusiasm for the Trinity... I found it, by a long, long way, they biggest disappointment ever! I bought one with the Prophecy board installed and just couldn't work with it.

All the sounds seemed very, very false and 'plastic'. Okay, there were a couple of pads that were acceptable (but only that; certainly nothing to get excited about) - my T3 does pads better - even my Delta does pads (strings) better and it's nearly 30 years old!

I did like TouchView though

I'm not saying Sina is wrong - far from it as he's a very experienced musician - BUT, we all hear things differently. One man's wine is another man's posion.

But as far as this discussion is concerned, OASYS vs M3? OASYS wins - every time and in every way (with possible exception of the sequencer!).

I often Layer Oasys and Trinity sounds together and some of the other devices you mention as well like the JV1080/Triton/ Yamaha EX5R has some of the best and wonderful EPs and wurly/Rhodes sound and the Z1 I prefer the organ sounds in this to the tonewheel engine in the O)they all complement the Oasys wonderfully when doubling up or layering,the JV has some wonderful pad sounds within the Vintage synth card that fit nicely under the Oasys Pianos,Many of these modules I run alongside the Oasys have some nice layers that I couldn't do justice inside the Oasys by its engines alone,Although the Oasy has heldped me downsize most of the Romplers I owned these select few modules I couldn't part with and am glad I kept them given the silkiness they add to The oasys pallett

Didn't Sharp sample the Trinitys PCM???would be a case of loading it in to the sampler and edit programs to suit,nether the less there are plenty of copy cat PCM samples in the Oasys that I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to replicate many of the Trinity sounds,I'm sure the trinity sounds would translate into the oasys providing your using PCM in the Oasys that is as close as possible I have managed to replicate many of my Favourite Triton sounds on the Oasys by using similar samples and copying over the program settings(Which is time consuming)and the Trinity is not a million miles away from the Triton except with reference to filter choices,just wish there was a direct conversion program that took out the painstaking editing

And I've never understood Korgs closed concept with program compatibility ok the samples/Engine variations maybe different especially with things like the Triton/Trinity/Oasys, but most of the parameter menus are identical so why no cross platform PCG loading that really annoys me

I gave the M3 a try several times - and it felt exactly like you described it. And I like your last comment: it'll be quite difficult to top the current sonic level. But I never thought of it like you: if it's not as good a spoiled Oasys user won't like it. Now I understand why Korg stopped manufacturing the Oasys! To be able to sell normal good sounding synths in the future!!!

Finding an Oasys anything with the original box and in new condition is proving very difficult for me.

I'm beginning to think getting an M3, is my only "real" choice. Good thing I can wait a little longer.

If you cannot wait any longer and OASYS is not available then I think - depending on your needs - the M3 could do well. It's not The Best Keyboard Workstation but also a great instrument.

Please see this and this post. Michael Jackson was obviously satisfied with the M3.

Oh I don't find the M3 to be that big of a let down. It's kind of like the difference between an Audi RS4, and a Porsche 911 Tubro. They are both nice, but having the RS4 you still know that the Porsche is out there and is in many peoples opinions better.

I think I will like the M3, but I'm still goign to hold out for an Oasys.

Ps: If I get one, I sincerely hope i don't need to replace any switches on it.
