yes, that post from heregard is trolling, but...

... come on, some cardiovascular calystenics is good after one hour sitting in front of a computer.

Imagine if heregard was a pervert, and posted two lipstick PIGS instead!

THAT would have been really annnoying.

(Probably on Roland Gaia forums they HAVE erotic pictures of lipstick pigs. Forget Roland: probably we have lipstick pigs pictures in the Korg MicroStation section of THIS forum :( )
No, I think Hedegaard made a mistake and you are trolling now, unfortunately.

It's not annoying but rather sad on this site. Please don't insult men and women who don't like these posts. I'm one of them.

This topic is about headphones. If you want to discuss about something else (girls, pigs, lipstick) please do it in private or find a better place. Thank you.

um....99.999% of my posts are serious, and I didnt think it would harm anyone with my little "joke" of the headphone girls (whom for the record, aren't even naked!)

Akos, I dont know how to remove my post(?)
Sorry if you got offended, people from different countries react differently.
I'm from Denmark and we're quite liberal and free about such natural things, so I didnt think that someone would find it offensive.
Thanks for your respect and likewise :)

Ozy, haha, yes I will send them to your home address pronto and the 3 of you can discuss Ohm, wattage, Hz and headphone ratings in privacy ;)

Hi Hedegaard,

Thank you for the answer, my friend. No, it's not a difference of countries. (But I wish it would be!) Now it's a difference of personal mind/taste. I don't want to express my sentiments, just because it's also off topic (= NOT about headphones) and I respect the rules of this forum.

Why oh why didn't I notice that?

The interesting detail is...

... not even Akos noticed!

Everybody was too distracted by the headphones

I must have missed that picture you're talking about 'cause I was listening to music on my headphones at the time of reading it:

It seems there is no moderation here anymore. Sharp, where are you?

I like humour very much, that picture of Kevin is nice! :D (But based on your correspondence I thought you were older, buddy.) Sorry guys, I really don't have time to waste for this. I'm preparing for Christmas with my wonderful family. Go amuse yourselves.

akos, please: cheer up. Just a bit.

Seriously speaking,

everybody here is a mature musician spending serious money on serious tools. Me, among others, have got far less, and far greyer, hair on my head than you have. So please don't waste time in deciding who's "adult" and who's not.

The basic assumption of this thread, and of a previous one, is that out friend Pr0 is on the verge of spending some serious (thousand) bucks on a mixer AND headphones,

he got serious and friendly technical advice,

then we relaxed and joked about his wife's reaction to his expenses,

then finally somebody posted a couple of absurd visual jokes about headphones.

All of this has something to do with OUR way of relaxing, talking about our families, and preparing for the not-so-anxious days of XMas.

Not EVERYBODY has the same way of showing joy and friendship. You can't force your taste on everybody and scold everybody as if they didn't belong here and had to be "moderated out".

Personally, I am NOT, definitely am NOT tolerant of blatant homosexuality and porn, and I fully understand your reaction to the first picture, which was definitely some soft porn,

but I understood as well that it was not meant in offence to anybody,

and FINALLY the second picture is just funny. A kid could safely enjoy id.

If you call for "moderators" in front of KevinNolan's "carnivore headphones"...

... then I really beg you to cheer up a bit.

Don't worry, I'm OK, thank you.

It's a bit late for you to apologize.

OFF TOPIC again. Your hair, your money, your sexual taste (pigs? lipsticks? :D) really don't belong here. If you are old you could be wiser to understand. As Hedegaard asked "Who cares?"
ozy wrote:So please don't waste time in deciding who's "adult" and who's not.
What you are talking about, my old friend. It's ridiculous. :D
ozy wrote:The basic assumption of this thread, and of a previous one, is that out friend Pr0 is on the verge of spending some serious (thousand) bucks on a mixer AND headphones,

Yes, from other people like me - but not from you.
ozy wrote:then we relaxed and joked about...
Yes, you came here for joking only. :!:
ozy wrote:All of this has something to do with OUR way of relaxing, talking about our families and preparing for the not-so-anxious days of XMas.
Yeah, now everybody knows your convictions about women, wives, marriage, family, see:
ozy wrote:yes, hedegaard,

please remove the two girls from here,

and send them to my home address, pronto! 8)

Of course I say this out of altruistic concern for Pr0:

HE can't receive any couple of naughty gals at HIS home address,

or this time his wife is really gonna sell his Oasys and throw him in the doghouse (first the 7-grand synth, then the 3-grand mixer, now a 1,2-tons pair of headphones... and he's always late for dinner  ).

Additionally, it's called "Christmas".

I'm not forcing my taste. What you are talking about again?
ozy wrote:Personally, I am NOT, definitely am NOT tolerant of blatant homosexuality and porn,
You are obviously lying here.
ozy wrote:and I fully understand your reaction to the first picture, which was definitely some soft porn,
Really?
ozy wrote:but I understood as well that it was not meant in offence to anybody,
I wrote "Hedegaard made a mistake".
ozy wrote:and FINALLY the second picture is just funny. A kid could safely enjoy id.
I enjoyed the second picture. Read again.
ozy wrote:If you call for "moderators" in front of KevinNolan's "carnivore headphones"...
I called the moderator only because of you.

The problem is with you that you are an intelligent troll. (Worse than a dumb one.) You've successfully ruined this thread. We know you don't have an OASYS. How could you give "serious and friendly technical advice" at all in this very topic? Please stop your bad work here. If you are lonely and want to talk then please do respect the others here - as we respect you. Finally, if you continue this behavior I will directly ask Sharp to ban you from OASYS forum.

Lads and Lassies,

Drop the debate - it's not worth it. Apologies for the picture if caused offence (it's not of me - its off the Web and thought it would lighten the atmosphere.

As an aside, Akos - I'm 45 - here's a picture of me, at my book website (warning - self promotion !!! - my popular science book about the planet Mars released 2 years ago hardback has just been released paperback across the US.:

http://www.knect.ie/mars/

(I'm a scientist as well as a composer). Sorry for the seemingly self promotion (not looking to promote actually but am however delighted to share this good news with you, my good friends here). As an aside to this aside - the book industry is in the same state as the music industry. Though my book was released by Springer/Copernicus NY - a very reputable publisher, it has sold relatively small numbers compared to the estimated more than 200,000 illegal downloads of it (all books these days are released as eBooks and that's just a fancy PDF and easy to rip. So its tough to make any money from any of this stuff anymore.

Back to headphones - I'm a bit of a headphone 'nut' so another recommendation I use are the Bose QC3 Quiet headphones - and they are very, very good. They have a differential amp circuit and microphone and record (and remove) ambient low'ish frequency noise. It makes using them in portable / outdoor situations a god send. For example, all noise from a plane on plane journeys and most of train noise are eliminated. And - audibly they are on a par with the Sennheiser 600/650 (not quite, but not far off). Highly recommended (I love them!!).

Dear Kevin,

Certainly, I knew that was not a picture of you! I love that image and I was simply joking. I already know your portrait well and I respect you and your great work as you know. Congratulations to your successful book.

If anybody cares, I'm 41.5 at the moment . And, like you, I use my real name here, together with my own face as my avatar. I'm quite transparent I think. I got a lot of help and learned on this forum - also from you. I like this place, I like all of you guys (including ozy ) and I come to discuss and help and sometimes to cheer up.

I like this behaviour better - and I truly hope that it's more valuable and useful for the forum - than hiding behind a picture of an animal (bear?), using a fictitious lowercase name and regularly destroying others' work. Especially as a non-competent contributor.

Well for the record I thought this thread was very interesting and I learned of some great headphones which I will take a look at when I have time.

I also thought the photo posted by Hedegaard and the later one posted by Kevin were amusing.

Akos, I don't mean to offend but I really think you have taken this all a bit seriously. As I am sure you are aware, this forum like the internet in general is made up of people from all over the world and from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, so I think one has to be quite open minded and less judgemental when it comes to reading other people's views. Again, no offence intended at all :) By the way, I am 46 and British with some Irish ancesty on my father's side (which my mother always blames for my dry and slightly twisted sense of humour :))

Anyway, to try and keep this thread on topic, the first set of headphones I got were the Beyerdynamic DT100 which I believe are usually called the industry standard phones. However I think they are probably more useful as recording phones due to being closed/sealed type phones, so I would also like to get some phones more suited to mixing.

Kevin by the sounds of things those HD800's might be worth a listen to although quite pricey, but also the other models you mentioned would be worth checking. Also the Sony that Sina mentioned.

Any other phones that are worth checking out?

Cheers lads :)

Tim
