OASYS has customers, Kronos doesn't have any...

Actually, you're right... My bad!
I just saw the specs on korg.co.uk and it's indeed 16bits/48kHz Sampling.
To add:
- Kronos uses 30Gb SSD, Oasys uses 40Gb HDD

I had hoped that when KRONOS was finally unveiled that it would be a beautiful, groundbreaking instrument.
To be honest though I feel that it is a little disappointing and shrouded in controversy.
BUT it is still a fantastic instrument. I will be buying one if I can ever find the money. When it comes down to a workstation or any other instrument, it is only the
sound itself and the
functionality that matters. And that makes this a winner.
Actually reminds me a little of the TR - cheaper triton but with better sounds. Here they've made an OASYS II but removed the plush premium hardware design.
So even the instrument itself is a contradiction. Great move by Korg, but almost 'lazy' at the same time. Fantastic instrument that is almost shyly understated. Its unrevolutionarily revolutionary.

Yup, I agree. The ground breaking synth however is the one in your avatar pic .... the Korg Karma and that is the only synth from korg I will be buying this year.

I disapointed only because I hoped for something, I couldn't have even dreamed of, but otherwise Kronos is my wishlist, and my dreams come true: an affordable Oasys. When I saw price tag, the GAS filled me, like never before.

Based on the specs and the video I would trade my Oasys for a Kronos in a heartbeat. In fact I wish Korg would work something out for those of us who invested what for many if us is a small fortune in the Oasys only to find it not supported a mere few years later, and surpassed by a similar product. (Not going to happen, I know.) That said, I am very glad Korg is moving forward, however Oasys owners might feel.
For me, the bells and whistles in any keyboard are nice, but far and away the most important thing is the sound quality, and the flexibility, and the responsiveness. It appears that beginning with the piano, the Kronos is the best sounding keyboard ever. It also appears there are many chances to use it as sort of a scratch pad where sequences, programs, combis can be triggered instantly and seamlessly, perfect for the sort of on the fly composing that I do.

Dan, please explain: beyond the specs we know is there any important difference in hardware/software to compare (like
you shown here for example).
Skippy, as a skilled sound designer for both machines, please share your experience and opinion. Which sounds better, which is easier to program?
