New features you would most like in an update to the iMS-20?

I need midi out of all tracks!
So you can record your songs to a DAW or hardware-sequencer and reuse them with VSTIs or real hardwaresynths.
And playing VSTIs or external hardware with the kaoss-pads will rock!

ANYONE ELSE?
Does anyone else think that general pasteboard / audio copy is painfully missing?
I think the iMS20 app is almost perfect otherwise.
The only requests I would make would be for "custom midi" or "midi learn" settings.
And quite possibly the ability to import patches made on the Legacy VST to iPad format.
KORG IS USUALLY SUPER GOOD ABOUT LISTENING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS, and these two things seem VERY useful for serious production.

Another idea would be the abiliity to sync two or more ipads so that for instance a prerecorded track made in one iMS-20 could be played back while the other ipad is used to play the synth live on top. Would require the audio playback to sync. I suppose that an iphone could be used for playback as long as there was a sync option. So what i would like is a iMS player for iPhone with a sync option triggered by the iMS-20 app.......
I agree. The iMS-20 is probably the best synth app out at the moment by far.
When the Fairlight App comes out in march there are going to be two contenders then. IMO. The inclusion of the Kaoss pads was pure genius!

Another option to apply to the next update.
An option to keep the ipad on and open for an extended period of time when playing live with other instruments would be a bonus. If u let the ims-20 run without playing for a few minutes, while playing other instruments, the ipad sleeps. and when you awaken it there is a audible sound from the ipad that is recorded by external recording hardware.
Re: Another option to apply to the next update.
By 'sleep' do you mean the auto-lock? Isn't that controlled in your iPad (General) settings? You can specify 'never'...you can also turn the lock sounds off...ALTOCIRRUS wrote:An option to keep the ipad on and open for an extended period of time when playing live with other instruments would be a bonus. Music is the best (Frank Zappa)
I love the MS20 and use it in lots of my productions.
Here my suggestions for improvements:
1. An option to switch to a piano roll for sequencing the synth would be amaaaaaaazing. The analogue sequencer does my head in. If that piano roll were to go as long as 64 steps that would also be very useful.
2. Having 2 synths and less drum tracks would be great. Having a lead and a bass to really bounce off each other would be sweet. The sampled drum tracks dont cut it when u start to mess with the pitch
3. Importing/exporting patch data to legacy collection would be great, and why not midi as well while i'm in the wishing mood.
Thats what I think

I'd like the possibility of recording automation throughout the song as a whole, instead of just pr. pattern. I guess this would involve yet another layer in the architecture, so it probably won't happen, but the idea would be to automate sweeps through longer passages, where the same pattern repeats, only with filtersweeping. For now, the only way to do this, is to copy the same pattern repeatedly to another pattern, and then record the automation over a sequence of these different patterns - and you would soon run out of free patterns, as you have only 16 of those. So basically I'm asking for a "song" -layer for such things.

Full midi implementation including midi clock sync and midi out is tops for sure. If we had MMC that would be a nice plus for more detailed control. Please also make an option to have the drum parts all on midi channel 10 (or something else if you want) and make the received note determine the drum triggered. You know, sort of like the rest of the world so we don't tie up a bunch of midi channels and/or prevent controllers like the Akai LPD8 from being useful for real time pad control.
Ability to tie notes together. do triplets in the sequencer (am I dreaming???) and maybe even explicit accents to emulate a 303 type interface. I know we can do accents with the existing interface but it is not a quick thing since the pads have no velocity sensitivity. That might be nice though especially when using an external controller!
Ability to direct enter values rather than trying to fine tune knobs even with the swipe tricks. Tempo could use a fine adjust by the way like an 808.
Extend WIST so that I can transfer settings/songs from one iPad to another quickly on the fly.

Beside the rest of the controls, wich i pretty much enjoy exploring, the sequencing, at least at the note entry-edit department is totally painfull.
They should overcome that by simply having a popup window showing a keyboard and the note position as long as you hold and twist the note knob.
Of course as stated before, a piano roll will be more than welcome.
