actual tempo is always locked to the device's tempo which is only really intended to match the tempo of your song. Few people go beyond that because either they are going about it entirely wrong or doing something really experimental.
Thank you X-Trade. I guess the SuperNova is the exception. Having gone through the other gear I have, it is the only one that can do this. The idea is to increase the arp rate as the song slows, to end up with a different swing feeling. I suppose the other way to attack the idea would be to record the sound and use Melodyne or another pitch/time editor, although I think these have serious time constraints.
