Well...maybe they should learn to do that --- BEFORE they ship the goods.apex wrote:they only do it to verify identity. (I think it's random), but at the same time, I've been told that they do it on large orders and some first time buyers.
what you aren't understanding is that I could have gotten your information out of a garbage can or any other way people get information when they commit identity theft and then call them and give them all the information, but what are the chances that i've got your valid license etc... and am willing to fax it in?... not likelygurn wrote:Well...maybe they should learn to do that --- BEFORE they ship the goods.apex wrote:they only do it to verify identity. The idiots.
And why can't this be verified in a less intrusive way?
Isn't it stupid to require me to FAX -- no telephone call -- no on-line form -
- no email -- but FAX my private financial & residential information to
them.
It is stupid. But more important, it is risky for the customer.
They tested me for one reason. I ordered from outside the US -- in SE
Asia. But they are really stupid in the way they go about this.
I called them. I was happy to give them whatever information they
asked for. But there is no way in Hell I'm faxing the information they
wanted. That's insane.
My order was flagged because of where I ordered from. That's obvious.apex wrote:
"...could be that the reason you got flagged was because your shipping address was different than the billing address of the card you used to pay. (billing address meaning place they send your bill or place they send your monthly statement.)
don't be mad because they are trying to protect you!!! some people do actually steal peoples information and purchase things online and have them shipped to themselves...
ever heard the term, a few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch?!!?!?!?!?!?
Let's see if we can ramp this idiocy up a bit higher Korg USA/Shopatron.
Judge: (To Shopatron's lawyer)
"So what happened here?"
Korg USA/Shop-a-tron:
"Well, your honor, he didn't fax us proof of who he was.
Judge: "Did he pay you?"
Shopatron: "He gave us his debit card info."
Judge: "Was his debit card valid?"
Shopatron: "Yes your honor"
Judge: "Did he authorize you to take the money from his account?
Shopatron: "Yes your honor"
Judge: "So he paid you. Then what happened?
Shopatron: "We requested he fax us some information to verify
his identity."
Judge: "You'd already shipped the product"
Shopatron: "That's correct your honor."
Judge: "If there was a question about his identity, why did you do ship the product?"
Shopatron: "It was a mistake your honor,".
Judge: "Did you deposit the payment he gave you?"
Shopatron: "No your honor. We held it because we needed to verify his info."
Judge: "So he paid you. You shipped the product. You refused to deposit
his payment because he refused to send you a fax. Is that right?
Shopatron: Yes your honor.
Judge: "Then you canceled his order. Has he offered to pay you again?"
Shopatron: "Yes your honor,"
Judge: "Did you accept his payment the second time? "
Shopatron: No your honor. We want still want him to fax us his personal information to us".
Defendant (my lawyer): "Your honor, I move this case be dismissed. We have tried to pay these people twice and we'll pay them right here. But my client refuses to FAX these people his sensitive information.
We also move the court award $1250 in costs and reasonable attorney's fees that my client had to spend to fight this idiotic lawsuit.".
Judge: "Defendant's motion granted. Korg USA is granted $120 to be paid by Defendant. Shopatron/Korg USA will pay Defendant's reasonable attorney's fees and is enjoined from seeking anything further from this Defendant in this transaction."
