It all started with a Roland electric piano and Arp Axxe I bought at the local pawn shop. Been thru quite a bit of gear since but my last board was the wonderful Hammond XK3C. Looking forward to Kronos and Jupiter 80.

JimH, I have a two car garage, separate from the house. I converted it into a project studio. I also have recording equipment;

Korg D3200
2/ Alesis ADAT XTs

Sony PCM-d50
Apple 27"iMac, ProTools, Digital Performer, & Bias Peak

Rack effects (Reverbs, EQ's Compressor/limiters and a Mackie 32ch 8 bus. with a collection microphones.

I need air coditioning, but I probably get the Kronos.

I wish i was one of the guys with the huge list...

My genealogy:
M audio Keystation 88-es with logic pro EXS24 sampler (yeah... i know.. not so great...)
Upgraded to triton classic ProX (loved and missed)
Downsized but kept the triton with a korg karma
kurzweil micropiano to make up for the bad triton piano
Korg radias because buying a moss board for more money seemed ridiculous
Sold karma cause it was just messing up too much
sold triton cause needed to fund -
Triton extreme 61 for 800 bux (what a deal!) still using and i WILL NEVER sell it. THIS is a beast of a board. As you can see, I'm a diehard triton user. Its my humble opinion that the triton can smoke 95% of any other boards, and if it cant, then there's sampling.. I get TONS and TONSSS of boards here in my home shop repairing keyboards, of course i get to mess around with different boards all the time. none of them compare even close.
Only things that have EVER came here and impressed me even a little bit
- Roland JV-2080 with SRX orchestra
- Roland RD-700
also, mechanically speaking, the tritons (excluding karma) has the BEST interior design by FAR. Roland has the absolute worst. It's noooo surprise to me that most boards that come in are rolands.

I don't. I love my Triton Pro and bought it new with all expansion options same day. Up until the Kronos being announced, I owned 2 configured identically. I can get patches out of the Triton I can't get out of anything else. I created a piano patch using stock samples and the EXB-PCM08 .pcg file that I still prefer over my M3 or M50 in a live setting. The filters seem more aggressive and the keybed is still my favorite of all synths. On other forums it's popular to rip on the Triton and I could care less. I'm selling my M3 for the Kronos. I'm not selling the Triton. Never will. At worst, it'll still be the best controller I could get.
Yeah, I know a lot of guys get great sounds out of it, and I eventually warmed up to it in the form of the Triton Studio. I just didn't see the original Triton as being worth switching to from the Trinity. I think a lot of people do that w/ successive generations of tech...skip one and such. Actually, that's a good question: did you have a Trinity (especially a V3) at the time you bought your first Triton?
McHale wrote:I also disagree LARGELY on your assessment of the DW-8000. I'd take that over a DX7 any day of the week.

This has me confused...when did I say I wanted a DX7? I still own and like the DW8000. I would take just about any digital/hybrid synth over the DX7.

I passed on the Trinity. I played plenty of them and don't remember why I didn't buy it. But I did not have the Trinity first. I have played plenty of Trinities since buying my Triton and I prefer the Triton still.

I just mentioned the DX7 because the DX7 has a reputation of being this awesome classic synth and everybody and their little sister seems to think it's awesome. The comment was more or less for everyone reading the thread.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

Gotcha. They are very closely related in tech and sound and it probably wouldn't have made much difference in my music or musicianship which one I had owned.

Oh, I see...that was just a weird jump for me. Yeah, I wouldn't even take a free DX7 now other than to sell it immediately. They clearly have their place in synth history, but like you, I was never a fan.

3 or 4 Wurlitzers, (one was blonde the rest black)
Hammond M(?) tiny hammond with no drawbars and single keyboard.
Mini-Moog, still got this one, and it works great.
Korg Poly 800, first introduction to Korg. Gave to brother.
Kawai K4, gave to friend.
O1Wpro-FD, gave to young player.
Wavestation EX, still have.
Trinity plus, love the keyboard on this one, still have.
Karma, still have and like.
Oasys76, still have and Love.
Roland A90-EX, great controller, still have.
EMU Audity 2000, still have.

Runnin the Oasys thru Pro-Tools 8 LE and Reaper, w/ M box and M audio midi-sport 2x2, for recording. Other gear, like Oberheim cyclone, strummer, drummer; Alesis drummer and analogue audio gear that I rarely use these days.

Live I run thru a Motion Sound KBR 3D, which I love, although I don't use the rotary horn much. The CX3 engine in the Oasys with its Leslie sims does the trick for my stuff.

Wants:.....maybe the Kronos 73 so I can leave the Oasys in the studio full time and retire the Roland A90-EX. I'm still learning curve with DAW recording and the Oasys, so maybe not on any new gear for a year or so.

Montage M7, Pa5x76, Nautilus, PA3Xle, Oasys 76, Mini-Moog, EMU Audity 2000, Motion Sound KBR 3D amp, Presonus and Reaper DAW W/Tannoy Reveal 501A powered monitors

Ok my list from the beginning of my playing (1982) to now..

I'm not so precious about my equipment, most of the time I buy it for what I need it to do and then move it on.Only a couple of items I really miss, will let you guess what they are.Quite a modest list compared to some on here, plus looking back I never really ventured away from the big three.

Yamaha PS-3( Ahh the memories, tinkle tinkle)
Roland Juno 106 ( My first proper synth! )
Casio CZ101
Yamaha DX 21
Roland D-50 (awesome)
Roland MC-500
Roland R-8
Yamaha TX81z
Yamaha SY99 (my fave Yam keyboard for many a year)
Yamaha TG500
Yamaha RM50
Korg M1R
Korg Wavestation SR
Roland JV1080
Roland XV5080 (great workhorse)
Roland XP-60
Roland XP-80
Roland A90EX (I loved this controller)
Korg Triton
Korg Triton Studio
Novation Supernova 2 ( superb piece of kit )
Roland Fantom X8
_______________
Korg OASYS 76 (err ,the dogs .......,if you are getting a Kronos you will understand)
Roland Fantom G7

My set up is now simplified, with just the G7 and OASYS at present.Any other bits and pieces I would put together in a computer then either sample sections for live work or just use the DAW for recording.I'm tempted to get the KRONOS 88 as I miss the piano keyboard feel and length, plus it weighs less than my O76.

Its not until you list stuff when you realise just how much you have spent over the years!!

Some of you guys seriously have wayyyyyyyy too much disposable income, you could open up your very own Synth museum if you had kept hold of it all.
Neil.
